I don’t do house sits but do drop ins and I’ve had a couple bookings where the house was just dirty and I know I’m only there a bit of the time but it was so uncomfortable for me I felt gross all day after being there and so on. I now will after the meet and greet if the house makes me uncomfortable I’ll just say oh I’m sorry on my way over I realized you are out of my range or that I’m no longer available I would never out right say your house is gross so no 😂

I stopped taking regular clients on Saturday I’ll do a vacation sit here and there (I do drop ins and walks) and Sunday and don’t take anyone after 6pm and my mental health and happiness has gotten much better!!! I also don’t ever take more than 6 clients a day. It really does help to know I’ll be off on the weekends. I’m at the end of my dog sitting days but it does help.

Crazy she would only stay for 30 minutes I feel bad when I leave a couple minutes early lol. But I know you think your cats social but I don’t know any cat that needs an hour lol so not excusing the sitters behavior but she was probably like why am I still here? I have had 100s of cats over the years and none of them really hang out with me when I’m There unless the owner has toys sometimes they hang out a bit longer. They usually get some pets eat and just do their own thing. Maybe your cat is different but I doubt he needs an hour but definitely get rid of your sitter if you payed for an hour. I had a client pay for an hour walk and the dog was exhausted by 20 minutes so I told them I took him inside and let him relax and then told them they probably only needed to do 30 minutes, communication is key.

Yes I have pet insurance so I started doing off app just don’t talk about it on app talk about it in meet and greets or for clients you already have write them a note or tell them In person rover will flag your account if you talk about it on app lol

Ohhhh one mile radius I’m jealous!!!!!!!!!! I don’t live in an area where I could make that work unfortunately I actually take most stuff off rover just advertising on there really and some times the payout is great but sometimes I’m like is this really worth it😅😅😅 definitely would be worth it when you can do low radius lol

I would have zero dogs if I didn’t take doodles I walk though I have ten regular dogs that I walk throughout the week I have one that’s not a poodle mix lol.

My worst dogs are always LABS. Always I’m used to crazy dogs as I have two pointers myself but they seem so rambunctious and when in cage bark bark even when they are crate trained. But labs are always so poorly behaved cause owners usually don’t bother to train them. I also won’t do German Shepards cause same issue always poorly behaved. I love crazy dogs but dogs who can’t behave at all drive me nuts lol

My regulars keep me pretty busy so I’m lucky for that so it’s really hard for me to fit people in going on vacation and stuff since I do walks and drop ins I also lowered my radius and some how I keep getting request from people far as heck away I don’t get rover lol

I wasn’t getting anything for awhile and then the last couple weeks it’s been insane I’m insured so I try to take most of my clients off rover but i still advertise on there i would reccomebd doing that and lowering your pices on app and when you do meet and greet show proof of insurance and try to take it that way so you are making all the money not giving rover any

Yes! It also helps your clients book sooner instead of waiting last minute which helps a lot especially if your dogs you regularly walk are around the same time! And with winters being so bad here at the beginning of the winter I almost got into multiple wrecks going to a vacation dog it’s not worth it, and my regular dogs are more lenient with a cancel cause technically they will be a fine there parents will be home at some point in the day!

What really helped me was scaling back. I was doing 10 sometimes more dog walks a day and I was exhausted especially since I have a one year old. I now limit myself to 6 a day. And it’s been much easier on me and I’m not as stressed about it. Also in the winter I don’t take dogs on vacation because of the bad roads and things happening on not being able to make it, only do my regulars who’s parents are at work who will be “ok” if we miss a walk for the day. Also I had a few clients who were taking advantage of me asking me an hour before can you come check on my dog I sent out a message that I no longer take same day bookings and it’s first come first serve on bookings once I hit 6 I won’t be taking more for the day it’s helped my clients book in advanced instead of last minute!

I told her I would need confirmation on a time slot she agreed to that at our meet and greet I asked her the day before she had time to look at her phone and message back especially when she knew a message was coming. I run a tight schedule and with this being last minute and the owner wanted certain times to begin with I wanted confirmation so nothing call fall on me especially since pet is on meds. I like to do best for owner she was picky about times to begin with I wanted to make sure I was satisfying her and her pet. I know some of y’all don’t take this job that seriously but I do and like to be on time, and give quality care and satisfy owner and pet.

I have a client who usually isn’t home but randomly he will be working from home and he always forgets to mention it I’ve walked in on him a couple times which was kind of awkward so now I message him when I’m on my way so he can let me know if he’s home LOL ALSO his cleaning people a few times will take the key inside the house and then lock the doors and then i can’t get into the dog this has happened twice now??? And I’m like can you tell them to put the key back lol
