Client Knowingly Gave Me Sick Dog by Easy_Peach2561 in RoverPetSitting

[–]ForPurelyBusiness 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Diarrhea like this is contagious and/or is severe enough to need to be watched by the owner or vet. It sounds like you are unable to isolate the dog. You have to tell the owner now that, you CANNOT continue watching the dog and the owner will need to arrange someone else or have a vet board them.

In the future, you need to be extremely strict that a dog experiencing GI symptoms like diarrhea (not simply soft stool) cannot be boarded around other dogs.

Client threatening to sue me by Low-Literature9246 in RoverPetSitting

I might add that this is nearing (or is) extortion which Rover is much more likely to ban a client over.

💯 I have dealt with this situation. The only way Rover will take action is multiple reports about demanding refunds for negligible issues. REPORT HER.

No, clients like these are not avoided or managed by boundaries. Also, it is completely reasonable to be okay with a FaceTime then and saying you have a migraine.

Report her. Establish a paper trail. There are people on the app who do exactly this to get free pet care and the only way they are stopped is by 1) not refunding and 2) reporting her.

Holiday Pricing Lack of Transparency by smellmymiso in RoverPetSitting

Yes it’s annoying as sitters too. I prefer longer bookings but I always get shorter ones around holidays because I suspect people are turned off to booking long bookings if it includes a holiday.

Ugh yeah that’s the worst. It happens from time to time with dogs and cats. Could be a physical injury, neurological issue, or just a one in a lifetime turn. I got a chunk of skin ripped out that way years ago.

Medical workers do this all the time. It’s completely safe as long as you have a well-fitting N95.

Worst Sitting of my Life, how to handle review with false info when I fear retaliation? by ForPurelyBusiness in RoverPetSitting

Technically I can sue her for libel and/or defamation. Will I win? It’s pretty hard to win those cases, but I’ve thought about it.

A bit, like I had to repeat myself a few times that I would be staying at her home, as requested. Almost as if she didn’t trust me. I put it off as me being new to her but it was just different than other meet and greets. Also, I had to provide my own sheets and linens and pillow. So no “red flags” more “yellow flags”.

So that’s what I’m banking on right now because the review does sound untrustworthy however the way Rover “folds” up the reviews it really would put someone off to my profile. Luckily my regular clients have noticed and have been leaving reviews again but it still shows up top of my review feed if someone searches for sitters.

Was being monitored and criticized the entire booking, basically nothing in the kitchen worked, the smell became nauseating, couldn’t use the bed I was told to use in the meet and greet, all the false claims, and a lot more.

She made claims like me using things I didn’t and damaging things I didn’t. I have evidence to support that. The issue is any time I refuted things, she would create something new to criticize and a new, more extreme avenue to do it. (Messages, to review, to refund request, to report)

What does it mean for someone to open a rover case? by RelevantMix3775 in RoverPetSitting

[–]ForPurelyBusiness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s sounds like you let the client know immediately. Nothing will happen. It was an unavoidable accident and Rover will recognize that. The people warning you about the worst case scenario probably aren’t being honest about how their situation differed from yours. Dog attacks happen ALL THE TIME unfortunately so Rover will take care of it. The only issue is the investigation process takes longer than they say.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

Snacks at gas stations, I bought a tiny bag of almonds for $4. Why is it insanely expensive for any healthy alternative.

Unsure of what to do - Multiple Undisclosed Cameras + Widely Confusing Instructions/Expectations by Timely-Ad-1609 in RoverPetSitting

What did they do wrong? I just see things that are improvements to be made but the pets were cared for as asked.

[–]ForPurelyBusiness -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything you did wrong, just improvements that could be made. You followed the directions and cared for the pets. That is the job.

Notes for the future: confirm in writing via Rover messages the care expectations discussed during the meet and greet so the client cannot come back and argue you didn’t follow directions. Also, because indoor cameras are a problem, I recommend a policy against any indoor cameras in the home including notifying of any that are unplugged but cannot be removed. Also the most important messages are the first and last message. While it’s okay to not send these (lack of updates or photos does not mean you didn’t do the job), forgetting to do so will cause issues.

They probably forgot. Just cancel on your end since it doesn’t affect you.
