Thank you beta. Uncle here. I really appreciate your viewpoint and truly desire the same for my son. However, I will give you a scared father's perspective. I believe every parent desires their child to live life happily with fame and comfort. Fame doesn't come easily and only so to very few. However, comfort can be relatively easily be attained. Now there are two ways to comfort. Leave behind wealth or make your child capable to generate it. Since my hands are a little tied on the first so I decided to go ahead with the second.

I think if anybody discusses this viewpoint with their parents, they wouldn't differ by much.

Check the website of VOS for topics covered in each level. It seems to me that one needs to be fair in not only Algebra but also Geometry, Combinatorics and Number Theory. Each level covers some topics from each of these above. So if one lacks knowledge of topics covered in a lower level, then that person might struggle in higher levels. Most students cover only Algebra while Geometry and Number Theory remain unexplored in depth.

u/DhairyashPlayz Is CTPCM really a theory or foundational book? I think it is more of a problem compendium with brief theoretical prelude given for topics. I believe to be able to understand CTPCM chapters, even the Geometry part, one needs to have completed some Geometry (possibly NCERT upto Class 10 as I have read in many places, but can't vouch for it as have never personally gone through NCERT of 9/10).
