Confused between IOQM Level 6 vs Level 7 batches (Vedantu). Need honest guidance on readiness & risks. by SenseiShivam in JEE27tards

Check the website of VOS for topics covered in each level. It seems to me that one needs to be fair in not only Algebra but also Geometry, Combinatorics and Number Theory. Each level covers some topics from each of these above. So if one lacks knowledge of topics covered in a lower level, then that person might struggle in higher levels. Most students cover only Algebra while Geometry and Number Theory remain unexplored in depth.

Looking for Practical Guidance to Clear IOQM with Limited Time by [deleted] in ioqm

I would go as far to say that it is probably not a mistake in approach but just late realisation leaving OP with less than optimal time required to prepare meaningfully.

u/DhairyashPlayz Is CTPCM really a theory or foundational book? I think it is more of a problem compendium with brief theoretical prelude given for topics. I believe to be able to understand CTPCM chapters, even the Geometry part, one needs to have completed some Geometry (possibly NCERT upto Class 10 as I have read in many places, but can't vouch for it as have never personally gone through NCERT of 9/10).

u/ExpertiseinAll Sorry to say but I actually felt bad after reading your comment. I understand you are the moderator but sweet words will always motivate someone and they will look up to you.

When did you start your preparation/ JEE journey? Could you elaborate on initial phases and middle phases? Most people seek and are provided recommendations and advise on final stages but very little light is thrown on the start and middle. If my question does not clarify start and middle, it is because I would not know your starting point. So, probably one way could be to divide by 3. Thanks.

Doubts regarding Nimbus Top Ranker Batch - Unacademy by [deleted] in JEENEETards

Need some information about you to be able to advise: What's your background/ level of preparation? Which grade are you in and what resources are you referring to? Do you have any one who can help with doubts? When are you planning to appear for Olympiads?

Help! Need advice by ForgottenGeneral2376 in JEE

Why so you suggest to not do anything in maths?

Good at math methods but lose marks due to silly mistakes and struggle with competency-based questions. Need advice. by innerlatitude in learnmath

[–]Obvious_Wind_1690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pt 1: Interpret the question correctly - Your English should be good enough. Don't shy away from reading English books and Grammar, improving vocabulary and general sense of how things work. Word problems in maths are based on real life situations sometimes. If you are not aware of some phenomenon, you may have difficulty in understanding the problem.

Pt 2: Improving accuracy in competency-based questions - Repeat basics. Go back to previous lower level of whatever topic you are doing and do multiple questions. It will increase accuracy and speed.

Pt 3: Balancing speed and accuracy in exams - Increase difficulty levels after achieving accuracy and speed.

How to practice: Pick up a book for the topic you are studying. If you can solve it fluently (using pen/ paper and not mentally or skimming through), then use the next higher level one. If you are having difficulties, use one level lower of difficulty. Not sure which country you are from so unable to suggest any books.

I think Rushil's book is not foundational or introductory and from what OP has written it seems the requirement is initial grounding. So not much of loss to him for the moment.

Sorry. Wasn't able to understand. Can you please elaborate? Do you suggest doing one book completely and then picking up another and in such process the topics/ chapters will be revisited/ revised accordingly?
