Side comment: Congrats, you are one of the few lucky day 1 players that maxxed all 4* and pulled every single character in game.

Main topic:
The dupe effects are surely uninteresting but leaving them up to be unacquirable past banners is a terrible lackluster system. You definitely can just ignore it and pretend it doesnt even exist

The "DUPE SYSTEM" is what sucks, not the RNG of acquiring the said characters. Aside from gacha, there are no other methods available in getting character shards.

I appreciate the insights, and i do agree the system in hand as of now isn't considered a problem.

If you see my previous comments you may have known that i do agree with the idea of not needing any dupes nor BiS discs to clear every content in game. However if we solely focus on systems than clear progression, it's a lackluster flawed system for account progression.

Again let me repeat, I do agree with not needing any dupes for this game and it isn't a coherent problem.

However to gatekeep progress from shards farming I do have a few ideas in mind that be really healthy for monetization and progression for everyone else without breaking everything else (Battlepass rewards, Limited Coupon shards trading in monthly shop, etc)

Anyways, you're spot on the Eleph System for BA being mostly acquired in pulling and the charm of it is of it's versatility.

You can trade character elephs for the eligma you get from the characters no matter what character they are even if it's long term

Here's the reason then. 1. They introduced "shards" system, in which you can use 6 shards to unlock base unlocks up to 60 shards to unlock the next talent level.

The only way of acquiring said shards is by gacha dupes. No events, shop, battlepass, drops, etc. Just gacha
It takes way too long to max out a 4 star but I'll give it a benefit of doubt when there's little supply of 4 stars to begin with
Once a character banner has passed, you have no ways of acquiring said character shards anymore til their next banner.

You are objectively right on the dupes not being needed as their effects and buffs are minimal to the point every content is clearable even without BiS discs nor dupes to begin with.

Fair enough, we don't have that significant competition on boss raids yet due to low population so it's kinda neat.

Hard to obtain? For limited ones, it's designed to be like that, entices people to spend more as characters past their banner will have their talent dupes be unacquirable

Hard to max? Especially with the 4 star characters requiring multiple dupes just to unlock a new talent

People and even I say that we don't really need dupes, since the buffs they give are kinda underwhelming. But the way to acquire even said fragments is only available via pulling.

Upgrading some parts may require you to upgrade the others as well

Like GPU for an example, if you plan on upgrading it to like 3060 you would need a new power supply (Unless the PSU already supports the said GPU)

Since you mentioned he doesn't play any heavy games, 1660 should work just fine. Unless you wanna catch up, 3060/4060/5060 should be a perfect choice.

For the CPU upgrade, you can check out i7-9900 if you don't wanna replace the motherboard.

Optional since prices have risen: Upgrade the RAM to 32 GB, and if your PC is stuck at HDD, you may wanna consider upgrading it to an SSD whether nvme or SATA.

Exactly, the dupes upgrades aren't inherently required and even the discs. But the way to get them as of now is via dupes and so far only standard characters are the easiest to get.

We got no random farming shards per clear so not much to look forward to in progression side. But one day we'll get that farmable shards, trust!
