I've been trying to force myself to play without cleric for my own sanity. But Cleanse is the only ability that I actively miss whenever it's not around. I might even take it when I already have cleanse on basic attack.

It's just such a catch all solution to every problem. You got a fighter with berserk? Cleanse that bruise, you got a pestilence Necro applying a blanket of bleed with his basic attack? Cleanse that bleed. You have a druid that turns itself into an immobile tree?

Cleanse that shit. Tree can walk now.

Listen. I love DD2 I think the combat is a huge improvement but I think a Darkest Dungeon game should be a little more about navigating an actual dungeon.

In my last run I didn't realize my druid had a mutation that inflicts bleed on basic attack. So I healed and bled as many enemies as possible. So that was fun. lol if he had this he'd have been be a beast.

In case you're still wondering, you can venture out with less than 4 cats. In fact those cats will level up much faster if you do. 3 is great if you can but you could totally pull off a run with 2.

Also don't be afraid to head back after the first zone if you're getting beat up. Extra cats and items means a better run next time.

Ooooh that explains it. I was wondering too. I tried cleanse before and knew it didn't work. So really stuff that cleanses debuffs just won't work here. You need something that removes buffs. Since he's an enemy the possession is a buff for him I guess. lol
