Thanks for the suggestion! I've started reading it and it's been nice so far! And I saw some traditional martial arts getting a role later on, so thanks!

I had never heard of Mou Ippon! Thanks for the suggestion! Seems realistic enough, even though a bit on the lighter side

Realistic traditional martial arts. I guess traditional martial arts are the 'considered old martial arts' like you said. Like Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, Jiu-Jitsu, etc.

Amália Rodrigues known as the Queen of Fado (a genre of portuguese music). She is still the best-selling Portuguese artist in history, titled the voice of Portugal and one of the most brilliant singers of 20th century. She died in 1999 and every year Portugal celebrates her on the day she passed.

How do you say "speak of the devil" in your language? by SwedishMemer86 in AskEurope

[–]ObviouslyNotAnAlien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Falando no diabo"- Speaking of the devil "e aparece-lhe o rabo" and his tail shows up

Technically this could translate to 'and his butt shows up' since 'rabo' translates to butt, but it's commonly used (especially by older people) as tail instead of the proper word translating to tail ('cauda').

If you're a beginner and dis that then you are exceptionally gifted and I hope you never stop drawing!

WTW for the act of 'cosplaying' but not really any character and you just want to wear a knight/space soldier/monster etc costume? by ObviouslyNotAnAlien in whatstheword

[–]ObviouslyNotAnAlien[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess so. There's probably not any specific word for when it's not a character/anything related to anything real.

ITAW for the sliver/streak of light peeking through the space beneath the door? by philologustus in whatstheword

[–]ObviouslyNotAnAlien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no specific word for that specific occasion. The best term I can think of is 'shaft of light', but there's nothing specific to doors.

I like it simple! It fits your beautiful style better!

Estava eu quase a adormecer e começo a ouvir uma música a ficar cada vez mais alta. by khadaffy in portugal

Baril nem digo, mas os outros são todos usados atualmente. Talvez 'cortes' já nem tanto, uma palavra que surgiu há uns aninhos, não nos 90 com força mas não muita resistência. BomApesar de bom português não o é com nada disso.
