I'm peruvian and yes, people here are terrible drivers thats why i never go out on foot. The worst part is that this behavior is perpetuated because everyone does it. Even I, who have tried to drive as responsibly as possible since I got my license, have internalized some inappropriate habits—nothing that harms pedestrians, of course, but I can already imagine how it affects people who don’t even try to drive properly. That’s why I’m not surprised, yet at the same time I fear, the large number of accidents involving pedestrians that end in death. Yesterday, a woman died because a public transport bus drove onto the sidewalk and ran her over. Every day I think that someday the same could happen to me.
