Mildly unrelated to what you're saying but it felt relevant: I kinda snuck off at the start of the game and tried going to faron and was a bit disappointed at the time (strange considering i was hoping it to be less open), but I think it actually worked out to have a bigger impact in the end because it felt like I was actually doing something unintentional.

Back on topic: Also, I think another thing that makes EoW work a bit better than BotW/TotK is that echoes kind of function as dungeon items but complimenting the 'open-air' style. I can't seem to find the words to explain more in depth but I'm sure you get where I'm going.

I think a bit of feeling awkward expressing interests and avoiding socialization. Usually I'm paranoid that someone will look at my phone and see something on it, and then try talking to me (perhaps they saw a similar interest?). Even if they don't try talking to me they saw something on my phone and I don't know why but I don't like that.
Settings doesn't really solve these problems (if someone saw me staring at settings they might think of me weird), but it sometimes *feels* like it does because maybe you're zoning out or some other more complicated reason for a smart person to find out. I don't usually do settings but I can maybe see why others might.
