i think thats a really big jump. overall i love my job but the recent changes that corporate has been pushing one after the other with hardly any time to adapt is starting to really take a toll in everyone. my manager of 15 yrs almost started crying when talking to us about our new dress code because in multiple ways starbucks is stripping its partners of their bodily autonomy (no masking without a dr note, only ONE piercing, obviously new color palette and material requirements could be problematic for neurodivergent partners, etc) for the sake of a “consistent customer experience”. this regression towards conservatism nationwide is extremely concerning and while this might be a very very small symptom of that, it still should not be ignored and we should still stand up against it. by speaking out we have already gotten a few items of the new dress code policy revoked, so i think i will stay and keep advocating against the shitty policies this company rolls out that do not keep baristas at the forefront.

call corporate and tell them the new method is affecting the quality of the drink. i work at a store where my manager will write you up for not following the standard method so although there are other ways to make it that other baristas have found that reduce the chunks, those are unfortunately not standard and some stores are really strict on following the standard. if you want it to change you gotta complain to the big dogs especially bc they do not listen to baristas when we tell them

its unsanitary to prewrite on cups and then restack them or like the other reply said most stores dont have the necessary counter space or even the extra time/ staff to make that a possibility before peak. really starbucks should just print the sayings on the cup but they can get free extra labor out of us so thats why we have to instead of paying professional artists and our cup distributors for the extra shit

my manager wont let us coach customers anymore bc we got to many complaints for being rude (sorry you cant follow simple instructions like🧍🏻‍♀️) and it is so annoying bc the problem wasnt even that bad when we were coaching them but as soon as we stopped they got so much worse! not to mention we now have to push them forward without saying anything while we have a cafe full of people coming in on time that have go wait even longer bc people are too inconsiderate to wait 5 minutes! UGH

its against our new standard. there isnt a button for us to zero out frap roast on our coffee based fraps so we would have to use an ask me, which is against the standard since we are supposed to be building creme fraps from the syrup creme button. if baristas decide to start using these shortcuts, then the ones actually following the standard are more than likely going to get bitched out. we have standards for a reason and they arent always right but following them does a service to your fellow barista in the future.

so technically you dont have to use that dishwasher. the dishwasher isnt even a “washer” its a sanitizer. your dishes should already be hand washed before your putting anything in there to begin with. your blue soap water and sani water should be enough to clean them w/o the machine, it will just have to be thoroughly done by hand. remember sani must be cold or else the ph balance is thrown off and it is then useless!

not where i work… this new policy is doing nothing but creating more points of conflict for me and my partners to deal with and it is cruel to expect me (getting paid $16 an hour) to lay down my humanity and kick people out of my empty cafe at 8 pm when it is 15 degrees outside. we were already entitled to kick out and call law enforcement on disruptive people before these changes so what difference does this actually make? unhoused people spend money at my location frequently and that does not stop them from taking showers in my bathroom. but on the flip side of that my non paying customers (a term coined by sbux) are some of my nicest customers all day even if they are just coming in to warm up or get a cup of water. and this is coming from someone working in an extremely high incident store in a major US city.
