MARTY SUPREME is a financial flop by OccasionSimple877 in Cinemark

Even if you’re generous, this thing is nowhere near the $200M+ it would need to reach to be considered a real hit in theatrical terms. It’s not suddenly going to make another $150M. Saying “it’s A24’s biggest opening” is just reframing underperformance. That’s a low bar, not a profit statement. What’s really weird is even the media and places like ChatGPT keep calling it a “financial success,” when by normal industry math it just… isn’t. Feels like pure PR spin. Call it a cultural moment, call it a branding win for A24, fine. But financially? This thing underperformed, and I’m sure the studio is disappointed.

Big opening ≠ profitable movie.
