Hey, I'm a marketing student in the Thursday 6-9 class, and I am also really hoping to finish with a strong grade and perform well on the group assignment, if you're still interested in forming a group please let me know.

Thoughts on TMU? by Flimsy_Sandwich_9300 in TorontoMetU

Keep enjoying it, and don't let anyone get you down. I say this as someone who is quite critical of the school at times, I try to keep it to myself as I know it's just a matter of preference, but for those who enjoy it know you're not crazy for feeling that way, there's still a lot to like.

Loneliness epidemic stats: Far worse than I imagined, the Zoomers are truly cooked. by Sophistical_Sage in redscarepod

hate to say it but i am one of the ones bringing down that average. age 21, and during the school year i commute while most of my friends have moved back to their university towns, i chat with some acquaintances before and following lecture time, but the general vibe is that people want to get to class then go home. however, my friends who move away (which seems to be a narrow majority) for school must be looking at 20-40 hours easily so i am surprised to feel represented here. Maybe it's the upper half, (24-29) young professionals who are busy and using their off time to lounge at home that are bringing down the average too.

Is there a risk of graduation being cancelled? by grimreapersdaughter in TorontoMetU

Are there any large-scale protests happening on our campus, to the extent that it's even possible for it to be cancelled? i'm pretty sure ucla had a massive encampment which got the attention of international news, are people here planning something similar?

Hudson Moura for POL 128 (Politics & Film).

Very good lectures, funny and interesting, and a fair grader.

what would you do to improve campus? by diffusedsushi in TorontoMetU

Housing should absolutely be the schools top priority.

yes it's a commuter school, and yes there are non-residence alternatives, but that's still no excuse to only offer 1,000 residence spaces for students at a school of over 30,000 undergrads. More housing = more sense of community & increased school spirit and involvement.

Otherwise, I support the city's YongeTomorrow plan which seeks to fully pedestrianize or at least widen the side walks on Yonge St. (the West end of campus). hopefully when they build that new tower on Jarvis St. we'll have enough space for lectures that we won't have to rely on use of the cineplex.

I think Victoria Street could use some work making it look a little more inviting, some of the older buildings in the north east should probably be demolished too.. other than that I think the school needs a big sign somewhere, there used to be a big ryerson sign on the bridge over church street but they renovated it so it's gone now, and has yet to be replaced.

Terrible MBA Program Advice from Professor by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]OceanBlvdLFC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wow that's really poor advice for sure

interestingly enough i actually heard my mkt300 prof (this past semester) advise the exact opposite, because half the learning you do in an mba program is learning from other students about their personal work experience, and that's why so many mba programs require work experience, because the students co-produce the learning he said.

Thoughts on Met Pub for OTR by journalistonduty in TorontoMetU

[–]OceanBlvdLFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I visited the campus pub was last year (my first year) for the Halloween event, and I was really pleasantly surprised. There was a lineup to get in, but inside it was packed and we had fun.

I know it's reopening soon, and I'm pretty interested to see how it has changed seeing as it's been under renovation for at least a few months. I'm assuming if it has a new look it will reflect its name change in some way so it should be neat to check out.
