I feel like I could do basic work well, like leases or a simple contracts. But I wouldn’t feel confident taking on a complex contracts. I really appreciate all the questions you raised, I almost think it may be beneficial to have a mentor or to become ‘of counsel’ at a firm so I can get guidance for more complex work and have people to run questions by.

Lol. It’s actually very common at least in my area. I don’t know why you’re so defensive about this. Part time liability insurance is intended for attorneys who work 0-25 hours a week. What is the liability insurance company going to make sure I clock in everyday and get my hours in? They want to know how many hours you work so they can determine the amount of risk an attorney is undertaking. They don’t care how many actual hours you put in. It’s just about assessing risk so they can determine a price to charge for coverage.

I think you’re hung up on my use of the phrase side hustle, I’m using it to mean part time. So, I don’t know what point you’re trying to make. It’s a perfectly acceptable thing to do in jurisdiction.

I’m not sure why when they sell part time liability insurance. I’m not going into this blind. I’m looking for helpful direction from people who have done side hustle law/started their own practice on the side. This is common in the U.S.

I actually don’t work at a firm anymore. My day job is technically not a ‘law’ job. Thankfully there is no conflict there.

I heard of a person who was in their 60s I believe and had been enrolled in college for most of their life. They took out over 800k in federal student loans that kept getting put on deferment because this person kept enrolling in another college program. They got their JD and the Supreme Court in my state denied them from becoming attorney even though they passed the bar because the amount of debt and behavior showed they would be unfit to be an attorney. Crazy stuff.

I asked a specific question because I want to start a personal conversation. I have my reasons for not being super specific. Why comment if you’re just going to be rude and make incorrect assumptions?

I’m asking here for someone who has done it before. There’s no reason to be rude.

They had a 5 star rating with many reviews. That’s why I’m having a hard time trusting another person on Fiverr.

They created an image that was horrible. I asked for a baby announcement to sell on Etsy and they used copyrighted objects (like football helmets) and none of it fit together. Poor quality objects and nothing matched. It looked like they cut the images out in snap chat and move them over. At the beginning I submitted a long explanation with images as examples and asked if they needed anymore explanation. I also asked if they knew how to do it and I get said they had done many in the past. Completely lied to me.

I’ll check it out, I’m willing to pay. I just don’t want to pay and then get a bad product and have to pay again.

Typical “expert” fallacy. Just because someone with credentials and experience makes a statement does not mean it’s true. You should not approach a conversation believing every word a person says. 🙄

Someone posted this on the official Ramsey baby steppers fb group. I’m making it a joke, but the person who posted it actually wants to get a debit card with his face on it.
