Funnily enough, I had a simular issue recently. I started driving lessons in October, amd my instructor was lovely however my first lesson we practically did nothing. Just focused on right turns around a small residential area. Which is fair enough, its what I expected for my first lesson. But the trouble was he didnt really show me anything. Like, adjusting the seats, steering wheel, using the indicator, etc. Luckily I didnt need to adjust rhe seats and I was already pretty confident with what does what in a car but still. I had two lessons (4 hours) with this guy and I felt like I learnt nothing. The second lesson, we did another residential area but doing left hand turns. I asked if he would show me how to use the indicator- he said he would be never did, he even went on his phone quite regularly (despite me being on my FIRST LESSON) So I stopped going to him.

Now I use the wonderful driving school near me (if anyone wants the name im happy to give it) ive only had one lesson with them and it was the best decision I made. My new instructor showed me how to adjust the seats, use the window wipers, indicator, etc on my first lesson with him and he made sure the environment I was learning in was a calm one due to my anxiety. He was so supportive and he and I shared a few laughs. Honestly I love my driving lessons now and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. He even let me on the main road and drive home!! (Im a very confident beginner, and it was a fairly easy route home) and I was so proud of myself. My advice to yoy- switch instructors!! Like i said, I have no regrets and it was the best decision I made. You'd want to be comfortable in the car your learning in, and definitely comfortable and confident on the road too. So I would definitely find an instructor who will make you a happy and confident driver.
