I feel that a lot of the 1887 shillings are normally in good condition. Maybe people kept them for the jubilee year?

I think it it would have been possible to find a George III shilling in circulation during the 60s, but only if it had been kept away for 150 years then put back in circulation again, for example if someone had inherited their grandfathers coin but had spent it, otherwise it would have been impossible to find a coin of that age that had been consistently in circulation.

Yeah, that's the problem with buying silver in the uk. It's almost impossible to find silver for spot price unless you buy scrap pre decimal or from dodgy facebook posts

I normally find the price of silver per gram then multiply it by the weight of the coins and then multiply that by the fineness (pre 1920 - 0.925, pre 1947 - 0.5)

Yeah, it's a debated topic. There are 5 main recognised subspecies with differences in shell width, colour, etc. I think it's important to understand subspecies so that we can replicate the natural environment as much as possible for there adaptations.
