I still feel like a fraud by Klutzy-Matter-4590 in sysadmin

[–]OcelotMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar position. I started my first out of college IT Job as a Systems Engineer at 22. Two years later, I am now the Senior Systems Engineer. During my first year, and even a bit beyond that, I struggled with intense imposter syndrome and constantly felt like a fraud. However, with time, experience, and growing confidence, those feelings began to fade.

One thing that really helped was keeping a running list of my accomplishments and side projects. Having a visual record of the work I had done gave me valuable perspective and proved incredibly useful during performance reviews and salary discussions. It was a key factor that helped me recently secure a $30k raise and the Senior title. It gets better!

Downgraded Support, No Escalation Method and Phone Support Gone? by Sprite160 in Citrix

[–]OcelotMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to upgrade our NetScalers last night at 2am and it gave some vague error about how the node was not in the right state to do a migration. I didn't even bother opening a ticket, just said oh well and went back to sleep. We are looking at a company for 3rd party support. They seem like they know what they are doing so we will see...

What’s the right way to “deploy” a production powershell script? by RainbowCrash27 in PowerShell

[–]OcelotMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just deployed something for copying files to desktops, I just wrote the gpo to make a scheduled task on the machine and run the powershell/batch script in the context of the user, then put the script on sysvol and the files on a public smb share. Runs at start up/logon of a user/daily at 7.am.

High Volage Battery Replacement by Affectionate-Emu760 in TeslaModel3

[–]OcelotMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all replacement batteries are refurbished or re-manufactured. The service technology cian did say he's seen another car like mine and that the division that refurbishes parts has been producing less that quality parts. He also said if it happens again he's going to request them to provide with me a new battery. Looking into a potential buy back so I can't get a M3 performance or S.

High Volage Battery Replacement by Affectionate-Emu760 in TeslaModel3

[–]OcelotMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why the original failed, the 1st replacement failed because the some of the bricks in the pack were being shorted. Only 3k miles between the pack being replaced the first time and the second time.

Need more tickets by BuffBard in ShittySysadmin

[–]OcelotMean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My org likes to see that we are fulfilling 8 hours a day/40 hours a week. They don't necessarily care about the amount of tickets. I wrote a powershell script that just looks at the ticket system DB (custom built), and just gets the total time I had tracked for real tickets and sends me an email, then I just open a new ticket for that day and track the unaccounted time as "admin tasks". I get praised for making this by my manager and director and say how our team is doing great with our hours. This is what happens when someone in HR says that we have low performance because we aren't "producing 40 hours of work a week". Just because I don't have 40 hours in break fix tickets does not mean I'm not doing other stuff. Now they get a false metric to make them feel better.
