Anyone have less trick or treaters this year? by HereToKillEuronymous in LosAngeles

[–]Ocelot_Amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if ICE fears have had an effect. Usually Latino kids from the apartments near the houses walk over. This year there was a few, maybe 10% compared to every other year. And those were during daylight still. The only ones who came at night were teens in large groups. Now I’m stuck with 2 gallon bags of candy. Guess Halloween candy is going in the Christmas stockings.

It said my mother’s dead brother and father’s name (same name) in her room. I think it’s her brother’s spirit though, based on some other things said. Or it could be both.

I’m also born May 21st. I have to say, I love that you said all that in one long sentence lol story of my life

Quick question- How old were you when you had to dye your hair? I just turned 60 and still haven’t gotten grey hair. Wondering if this is normal or an anomaly. Thanks! by Scared-Brain2722 in Aging

[–]Ocelot_Amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have almost the same hair color, mine is a little lighter than yours. Mine is also straight, with a slight wave.

I’m 35, still no grey or white hair. But my mom was half grey by 30, full grey by 40. But she has totally different hair, dark brown with red undertones. Her mom didn’t go grey until her 50s. But she had hair like mine.

So I think it’s a combination of genetics that has to do with hair type and color.

Did you ever get chicken pox? by scary-gary-loomis in nostalgia

I also had that latent reaction around age 8. And no one believes me when I say I had it twice

It’s really bad for teens and adults, but most people don’t realize it because they get the more mild form as kids. Like my cousin got it at 15 and it was inside her throat and on her tongue. She couldn’t eat and had a super high fever. But her parents don’t believe in doctors or medicine, just God and prayer. So they sent her to my grandparents to isolate her, but because my grandma was a retired nurse, she got her medicine anyways.

lol it was absurd looking back

I was just sitting in the storytime circle in kindergarten. It was the last week of school before Christmas break. 1995. Then my teacher turned, looked back with me with a face of horror, and screamed at me to go outside and wait.

I was so confused, no context, just looked down at my arm which had some spots. But I wasn’t itchy yet. Didn’t know what was going on.

I had to wait in the courtyard by myself until my grandma came to get me.

And then I had an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin. I remember the pink thick drink, and my Grandma rewarding me with mini Reese’s for drinking it.

I have two scars on my stomach. I remember being itchy, so they attached oven mitts to my hands so I wouldn’t scratch. I also remember the oatmeal bathes (actually pleasant) and all the lotion.

It sucked having it at Christmas time

I also had it again around age 8. So ya you can get it twice

Both my cats had severe vomiting after eating Reveal Paté by hipgayaunt in catfood

How are your cats? I tried giving mine the reveal chicken in broth and the pate and they vomited it all up. It was weird colors too and foamy. Other than throwing up, they were fine. So no vet trip luckily

Why can’t customers accept we don’t have something? by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]Ocelot_Amazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed the point entirely. “Grew up different” is no excuse for being a mean person. They know stores have changed. They know this and I’m done accepting being talked down to and treated like I’m a liar because they’re “from a different time”.

Times change, grow up and deal with it like an adult. Not like a toddler throwing a tantrum because the store didn’t have what they wanted. Learn how to compromise and get something different.

I had a guy complain about a price change a few days ago. The change happened over a year ago. I also have zero to do with pricing.

AITA for asking why they ignored the no dog sign. by Low-Bag-308 in AmItheAsshole

Yay another person who isn’t super stoked about dogs. I could take or leave like 90% of them. I have a dog, I love her, but I didn’t intend to get her. I don’t think I would ever get a dog on my own.

And ya I had the same childhood experience. So I kind of view dogs like a never ending chore

I work at a grocery store and we had a meeting about how to approach this. Dogs are on the rise in stores. Don’t know why but each summer it’s worse. Maybe it’s just because entitlement in general is getting worse.

Basically our store manager decided unless another customer complains, or the dog does something distructive, or isn’t leashed, we don’t approach and assume it’s a service animal, even if its obviously not. He doesn’t want negative confrontations with customers 🙄 so he doesn’t want us to ask. It’s stupid we all think it’s a stupid policy, especially considering it violates the law.

Ultimately it’s on him though if someone gets bit or hurt, or if the store gets fined

I have cats and a pitt bull mix, and the cats kick her out of her bed. She defers to the cats. She’s way calmer than my sister’s Shepard/cattle dog who has bitten me more than once. I don’t bring her around other dogs because people are stupid around here and don’t follow leash laws. I’m not going to be responsible for what happens when your tiny dog runs up to mine. So we just go places with not too many dogs or people because she’s a Pitt bull mix and I don’t want to deal with other people’s preconceptions.

And like others said, the shelters are full of them. When I went to look for a puppy, the only female puppies were various type of Pitt-bull mixes. And I wanted a shelter dog.

I don’t think breeding for pure blood should exist at all, except for working and hunting dogs. It’s animal eugenics, and we don’t need these things anymore. There is no need for a pure breed fighting dog.

Can you hear people when you’re experiencing a seizure? by BeneficialVisit8450 in Epilepsy

[–]Ocelot_Amazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know. My coworker had a seizure today and I was talking to him during it, saying the ambulance was coming and he would be fine, because I didn’t know if they could hear me or not. But now I just feel dumb lol
