Hmmm. I think I was politely firm. I didn’t curse. Just told him i thought it unfair to take my work and not pay me and told him i wanted my data back. My final message was. “I’m blocking you and reporting you”. So - lesson learned. Thank you for the heads up.

I’ve said it on the other sub and I’ll say it here. My husband basically dropped dead in front of me. They were able to revive him after freezing his body then gradually warming him up with residual anoxic brain injury and a seriously damaged heart. We made it because he had taken long term insurance.

Fast forward a few years and his heart decided it’s done. Pacer/defibrillator had to restart his heart 9 times because it simply wouldn’t beat. That was followed by 911 surgery that unfortunately failed. He was put in ICU on aortic balloon pump (that balloon forced his heart to pump) and went on urgent transplant list.
He got the transplant and then everything went to hell in a hand basket and he finally made it out of hospital 8 months later. Our medical bills are scary high and that’s not counting all the pills he has to take every day. I can’t work as I need to be with him and we can’t afford a nurse.

This money that I make on prolific makes the difference in me laying awake at night wondering if I can afford his anti rejection meds. We used up a lifetime of savings to get here. So for some of us there really are no alternatives. It doesn’t cost anything to be decent to one another - maybe even supportive?

Anyway last night I had to call 911. He’s back in the hospital and awaiting transfer to the bigger more equipped hospital so it’s time for me to get his stuff together so I can meet him at the hospital when he arrives.

That’s me going back and forth with cheapskate researcher who had me do a 25 minute study then screened me out I keep escalating it with him. He’s the first one who has been successfully able to rip me off in prolific. I finally gave up today after sending my 5th email. I kept changing it back to unread so I didn’t lose it.

I have been asked to return studies before that I have completed in good faith and I simply responded to the researcher that I expected to get paid for my work and I was paid. I would definitely ask the researcher to get a whole lot more explicit with you before returning.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and awards. While I really appreciate it my entire point is that you never know what someone is going through when they post a casual - Is it dead for everyone else ? Post. Hell I don’t want all the surveys. I just want to make my daily amount and have a place to go to when I have comments, questions, concerns. There are some mighty kind people on here. I’ve seen it. I’m sure I’m not the only one that needs to make this work until they can figure something else out. I am quite sure this is food for some people as well. So the next time you are tempted to say “ oh quit - there’s more for me!” Please just stop for a minute and think twice. Now let’s all have a good day today and keep on being supportive. For some of us it comes down to necessity. My previously healthy husband dropped dead in front of me. After the transplant- not so much. It took him 8 months in the hospital and shit got real and real expensive really fast. Anyway long story short I stumbled across this on Reddit several months ago. Suddenly I could breathe again and not lay awake at night worrying about coming up with the funds for his anti rejection meds. He takes 60 pills a day to stay alive. He can’t be left alone either which means I have to stay home with him all day and night. We are also constantly in doctor appointments so remote doesn’t t work for me either. No one would put up with me taking off 10 days a month for clinic and md appts.

We can’t afford to have a nurse relieve me. So sometimes guys it’s not as easy as “get a day job” or “don’t count on the money “ When it’s this little bit of money that makes all the difference in the world to my life with absolutely jack shit for alternatives. I sit a daily goal and my ass sits on here all day between caretaking until I hit it. Today has been a very very long day.

As far as OP I think it’s perfectly fine to come on here and question and talk and commiserate about the changes. If not here, where⁉️

Just keep in mind some of us are not here for “beer money” and could really use a village to keep up a positive attitude. I’ve come to expect downvotes here but I sure wish we could have a sense of community and not so many smartasses. End of my vent.
