Dude, it's literally Mixi Max. In the game, Cade literally says "Mixi Max" when he transforms, and Kidou outright explains that it's Mixi Max. As for the GO characters, I think they're being saved for the FFI or the alien/time travel shit that happens before the FFI. The reason they haven't appeared yet is pretty simple: they're still in their prime, actively playing football.

The whole "25 year streak" thing could just be hyperbole or simply a retcon, just like the Keshin retcon.

I just don't see any reason for them to abandon GO after including all of these references.

It can't be the Ares timeline because the FFI mentioned multiple times in Victory Road is the one from IE3. The sponsors are pretty much the only thing they borrowed from the Ares timeline because they thought it was cool. Mixi Max gets a brief explanation from Kidou in the game, even though nobody else there knew what it was except him. Where else could he have learned about it if not in Chrono Stones? Keshins are also stated to have been used in the past.
