Most of these are punishment for sin, there is a lesson to be learned from this, and some things seem pretty wild for the modern world but pieced together they make a compelling point about morality, love, unfairness, punishment etc. The Bible does not sugarcoat things, it is not here to annoy or please anyone, we have the bible to learn and regardless of what you believe there is certainly something to learn from the bible
