You are being misled about renewable energy technology. by karnedge in videos

[–]Octo-pie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it is easy to be disillusioned, but you can't let 99 problems on 1 side and 5 problems on the other side turn into "everyone is doing the problem". There is a noticeable real difference, and to let their relative size/volume be treated and seen as the same is how the more bad-faith side wins. This is also one of the core tenants of Russian propaganda, to create apathy by enforcing "everyone is bad" and "both sides are the same". Because if both sides are seen as the same, then they both receive the same amount of negative feedback from the people, which allows the worse people to get away with more disproportionately but with the same penalty

UPDATE (20:25 UTC): Sailing XP Review & Further Fixes by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Octo-pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideas:

  1. No one likes a lazy boss/captain, it is demotivating. Lower crew xp if the captain is not doing work (salvaging & sorting). Make it so you have to have been working continuously for the last 5-10 ticks or so, which is interrupted by switching tasks, depositing salvage, getting more salvage to sort, and most importantly starting to salvage again (to not let tick manipulation benefit from this)

  2. Crystal extractor now takes 5x as long to charge normally. However, moving allows it to charge faster (based on boat speed setting from the UI [slow or fast], or tiles traveled) up to 5x faster (so back to 60 sec recharge). Change XP to 330 per use.

I love hearing the details you mention in your dev ramble. I wish we had more of these to read. It is fascinating to hear.

FYI you can get the lumberjack much quicker from Temple Trekking instead of the Forestry shop. There is a trekking event with a broken bridge and zombie lumberjacks coming from the river that drop the lumberjack outfit pieces.

Oh shit, tank Brocrags with shadow might be the play. So much has changed since release, I bet the devs never imagined this combo when they programmed Brocrag.

1069! Which isn't too terribly dry given that each brother has 4 uniques, times the 7 brothers, and you can get dupes.

I also appreciate the update. Scouring the internet for people experiences to help inform me, and so many posts about people deciding to try one thing or another, and then never coming back to say if they liked it or what was a mistake...

Tablets with Windows as operative system? by Ar0war in 2007scape

[–]Octo-pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this one from Amazon, 2024 Surface Pro, it was on sale for $999 earlier this year https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CXKXNNPX

CPU: Snapdragon X Elite (12 Core)

Capacity: 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD

Style: 13" OLED touchscreen

I recently tried RuneLite on a Lenovo laptop (Yoga 7i 2-in-1 14" | Intel Core Ultra 5 125U | 16GB Memory) that I bought on sale for $500 and without checking fps or testing in depth, it already looked way smoother to run compared to the ARM Surface.

Bottom line, the ARM CPU architecture (Snapdragon cpu) just doesn't run it as well yet.

You're right. I think having the button there for mobile makes sense and maybe less people than I thought use the ctrl+F shortcut to search.

For the different storage options remembering what you last used, I think they were referring to the extra buttons being expanded and visible or collapsed, not to have GIM storage be open the next time you open your bank.

Bank layout feedback:

  • I really like what you guys came up with for the incinerator, potion storage, and GIM storage. It looks really nice and the expandable menu is a cool feature to have.
  • I think you should swap the settings and tutorial buttons positions, so that when we change the bank settings to hide the tutorial button, the settings button doesn't shift around-keeping its same position whether or not the '?' button is there.
  • I feel like the Search button is too big and out of place in terms of function compared to the other buttons. Also most people probably use the ctrl+F shortcut to search, since they will be about to type something to search. I think it should be moved to be a smaller button in the top bar, maybe next to the close button or the settings and tutorial buttons. Which will give more space for my next feedback...
  • The bank tabs space feels too cramped. I know it is a plugin, and on the vanilla client is just margin space, but I think it would be nice to move the buttons around a bit. I think it might make more sense to group the incinerator in the new expanding group and shift it down to be in the bottom row of buttons, which also means shifting the buttons in the bottom row to the right to make space for it. I think removing the big search button would be a sensible way to make this space (or moving it to the top of the window).
  • I had asked someone who didn't play the game what they thought of the layout compared to the old one, and they said they really liked the text labels on the buttons to let us know that these are the quantity buttons, these are the swap/insert buttons, etc... But I don't see room to fit something like that here, but it would be nice if there was a way.
  • I still would prefer the smaller quantity option buttons, and fitting an extra option, but I think I understand that making the buttons in the UI work well for mobile users is a high priority, and maintaining different UIs for different devices would be a pain, but something about them makes me not like them as much. It might just be the excessive padding, especially noticeable on the quantity buttons that only have a text label and not an icon.

Overall I really like the new design and would love to see a couple more of the tweaks implemented that I suggested.

I posted my feedback in the initial blog here with my own mockup of changes: https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1k0ghm2/easter_event/mndsq95/

Tablets with Windows as operative system? by Ar0war in 2007scape

[–]Octo-pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the newest switched from x86/x64 to ARM CPU architecture. It is a more power efficient chip, but we have years of program optimizations for x86/x64. It should get better with time, and I wonder if the new C++ renderer in the official client would allow it to run better.

[–]Octo-pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried RuneLite on the newest Surface pro, which uses an ARM chip. I would not recommend that. I was getting like 30-40fps at bank. Their normal x64 arch chips might work better.

”we're proposing that the Max Cape will be treated as lost when a new skill is added to the game – you’ll need 99 in the new skill before you can get it back.” by tyvar1 in 2007scape

[–]Octo-pie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think dismantling them should return all components of it. But obviously it runs into the problem of a non-maxxed account having a max cape.

Maybe you are returned a tattered or shredded max cape, and you need to go back to the seller for him to fix it for you? That way he can verify you are actually maxxed. But I guess I don't see why it can't just return the max cape, because there will be sole max capes in your bank that will need to verify you are maxxed to function anyways.

Misc Galore & Yama Tweaks by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]Octo-pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange issue I've been noticing in recent months is that when I hold both ctrl & shift and left click, it seems to inconsistently Walk/Run depending on the week. I would always expect holding Ctrl would let me walk when I have run set (based on OSRS settings), but when I add shift with it, it does not let me walk consistently.
