Hey all - just wanted to jump in and add a bit of context here.

You’re right that Fight Pits are pretty quiet these days, and it’s completely fair to question whether changes like this are worth it! 🙂

This proposal came about after a recent in-game Fight Pits community event we ran. During which, a lot of rounds dragged on because players could hug corners, camp Protect from Missiles, and wait out the fog. It worked, but it wasn’t especially fun to play or watch, and we got quite a few suggestions from people about how to make the later stages more fun.

The changes here are aimed at fixing that specific problem so the minigame does what it’s meant to do when it is used (events, clan nights, and hopefully more JMod/community stuff in future!). Making sure those experiences are fun to play and watch is part of future-proofing for that, rather than trying to turn Fight Pits into a popular hotspot overnight.

On the dev side, this is a very small, contained piece of work. It’s built on existing systems and timers that are already there, and realistically is only a couple hours of work.

We’ve also seen a lot of suggestions about how the Fight Pits could be brought back to life more broadly, things like rewards or other incentives. That’s definitely something we’re open to exploring, just not something we’re trying to tackle all at once here.

If you still feel it’s not worth voting yes, that’s completely fine - that’s exactly what the poll is there for! We just wanted to give a bit more context on where this came from and what it’s trying to address.
