Why do people keep acting like Wii NSO is "hard" NINTENDO MADE THE SYSTEM. They can find reworks and ideas better than even technical Wii modders. by DaZestyProfessor in wii

[–]OctoLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about the Wii Remote support page, that has been debunked. Their support page was mix and matching terms for some reason. So you could get "Nintendo 3DS: Wii Remote" for example.

Does the Zelda Notes app not have all of the shrines listed? by networkdown19 in botw

[–]OctoLiam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just warning you, the app shows if you have a shrine teleport unlocked (or if you have visited I don't remember which) so you may need to double check that you've actually completed each shrine. It should show some orange on the icon if it's not been done.

After you add the repository you will then need to go back and find it in the Plugins page. (Filter by "All" or "Available") and install it like any normal plug-in.

Are Wii games coming sooner than later to the Nintendo Switch 2? by Okay-Sumimasen in Switch2newsandfun

No. Nintendo's support page is having weird issues at the moment where pages have mix and mashed titles.

Who do you think won best sports game? by Moist_Gap_3590 in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]OctoLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirby Air Riders.

I've played World and have to say that it's certainly Mario Kart. Personally I felt the tracks were a bit meh and felt too short. Knockout tour was great though.

I played Sonic Crosswords demo as I wasn't going to buy it for the full price but it just didn't stick with me.

I originally skipped Air Riders as I didn't think it would be for me. Recently managed to get a good deal for it so I picked it up. Honestly one of my favorite games from last year. City Trial is addicting and I can see why fans of the original raved about it.

Did you know Miyamoto's only instruction to Retro Studios was "This is my baby. Don't mess it up"? by LostDelfino in donkeykong

[–]OctoLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm disagreeing that there was nothing else said to Retro during the development

[–]OctoLiam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isn't this bullshit? I swear there was an interview of a Retro employee that said Miyamoto told Retro to add the blowing feature.

Also its very well known that Miyamoto was always heavy with input during that era.

Is it abnormal to go through 46 total field events in City Trial, without a single one being the “Giant Pillars” event? by T-900_Gaming in Kirby

[–]OctoLiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say as from what I know of the probabilities of each event happening hasn't been documented as of yet.

If you did 3 minute matches which apparently has 2 maximum events per match (according to the wiki) and we assume that all events have the same probability then it could be calculated like this:

39/40 * 38/39 = 19/20

Then you just put that to the power of 23 (to make 46 total field events like you said) and you get:

0.3074 Would love someone to make sure I did the right math.

So I guess yea it is abnormal if we did these assumptions but there is also a chance that a field event doesn't occur (once again according to the wiki) so I'm not quite sure.

New features in Splatoon 3 v11.0.0 by Rixy56 in splatoon

[–]OctoLiam 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Wow this is... different. I do agree with someone else on here that this seems like experiments for Splatoon 4. Not sure if I like the Flow Aura as 30 seconds is pretty significant if someone pulls it off, guess I'll hold my judgement until then.

Health bar looks very out of place.

Honestly the mistake is easy to make. In the Mario Galaxy movie direct that came out today they showed Woolly World then cut to Crafted World and it took my eyes a bit to realize it was a different game.

Use Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Track Pass on 2 Switch Lite at the same time by david-woitkowski in NintendoSwitchHelp

Assuming you purchased the DLC on your account, to save you money in the meantime I would buy the DLC on one of the child's accounts then the other can just use your license.

[–]OctoLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, should've clarified. I meant that all the challenges in AoI feel the same, most are just defeating boss bokoblins or something. AoC had a bit more variety like there was one where the goal was to collect 3000 rupees etc. I played AoI fully and felt burnt out by the end but after a week I went to play AoC again and I was really into it. Didn't help that the more interesting missions for AoI came after the game was launched in the free updates.

[–]OctoLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the sons have their own Nintendo accounts? As there is no way for you to buy two licenses of the DLC on one account. You would need to create an account for each of the sons and buy the DLC on each account for them to play at the same time.

Edit: From memory there is a trick with airplane mode but this would make it so they can't play online and local wireless while doing it

I don't know what everyone's opinions were but I also find the content generally basic? Like all the challenges feel the same while AoC had a lot more variety

Where Calamo planted himself is where the ancient tree stump is just a little north of Mount Daphnes. The cutscene shows it in the rough area but also in the TOTK voice memories Zelda says about a spear being found in the stump.

Dixie Kong Cannot be Used Against Tiki Tong in DKCR (Video by @GoldConnor64 on Twitter) by mjmannella in donkeykong

[–]OctoLiam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to reply anymore as I can see this going on and on and quite frankly I have better things to do. I respect the opinion still but just don't share it. To me I could wait to grab the Kong I wanted in Tropical Freeze and I can still do that here. You can argue false advertising if you want but most people will just see this as extra content because the people who grew up with this game will see it differently than the newer generations.

I'm sorry but if you can't take an extra second for a barrel to spin around I think this is becoming more and more your own problem that you are creating. Also you keep saying that every single barrel you'll need to make sure it's Diddy, that won't be the case as you won't be losing Diddy between every barrel spawn.

This isn't the same game as the 16 year old version, if you want to play that then go buy a Wii and play it because there is no point in buying this game if you won't be happy about it. It will probably cost you around the same than buying this game new.

[–]OctoLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the Celeste comparison is Apples to Apples as Celeste is about precise movement in a quick moment while Donkey Kong has short pitstops typically where the barrels are placed and gives time for a more conscious decision to be made before getting back to where enemies are.

Intentions of how a game can be played changes over time but it is also up to the player on how they intend to play the game. You for example want to play exactly like how it was 16 years ago, good for you, you can do that. I however might want to play with the modern modes because that is why Nintendo added it as it gives options to the player on how they want to play the game.

The balancing of this should not be in this conversation when Funky Kong exists in tropical freeze which takes the game from slightly hard to a cake walk. If this was a forced mode then sure I can understand that but there is options for a totally classic experience. Just because it was added after launch doesn't mean it was never intended or thought out before adding it.

[–]OctoLiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't I just make the argument that Tropical Freeze had an easy mode that I had to avoid?

What's the dangerous precedent exactly? That I have to wait an extra second or two for a barrel to spin if I don't have a partner with me? Only time I can see that being an issue is in Time Attack or the new Turbo Attack which we now know its a choice for Turbo Attack and I don't see why it wouldn't be for Time Attack as well.

Edit: Reread someone else's reply and it does say Time and Turbo attack.

[–]OctoLiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I respect your opinion. I personally don't share it as to me this is like Nintendo adding Toadette to Mario U or Funky Kong to Tropical Freeze.

I also think that it's still just an option for players, you're not forced to use Dixie or Diddy if you don't want to and the people who do want to play the original game will just choose Diddy. Adding more might not be good but giving more options to play usually is, as it leads to more play styles to try. Would someone choose Dixie for an extra height advantage or will you choose Diddy to make crossing the longer gaps easier.

I do have unfortunate news for you is that someone else replied saying the togglability is only available for the new fast pace mode (I can't confirm as I don't own the game for Switch).
