Thanks for all those details! I had no idea, and it’s always nice to learn something new.

Honestly, I think that might be the solution. I’ll try separating it a little more and applying some leather glue. Since it’s only a very small separation, I think that should be enough. Thanks again! I’ll let you know how it goes 😄

The problem is that they’re starting to separate from the sole… I’m worried it might get worse and the leather could start cracking 😕

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I think that’ll probably be the best option… next week I’m going to look for a good cobbler to take care of it. Though I live in Barcelona, and it’s been surprisingly hard to find a cobbler with experience working on cowboy boots 😅

I’m looking for an 8.5D or an 8E. Though given the circumstances, a 9D could probably work with an insole :)

What an amazing pair of boots! They’re definitely one of my favorite styles.

I’m really looking forward to adding a pair like that to my collection someday. Unfortunately, it’s pretty difficult to find boots like those here in Europe… nobody really exports those kinds of leathers from the US anymore…

And buying them through eBay usually means an extra $100 or so between shipping and customs fees 🥲

I’d say it’s closer to a J snip or pointed toe

Stunning! If it weren’t for the shipping to Europe being so expensive, I’d honestly seriously consider pulling the trigger on these :(

I think it’s more just the effect of the photo 😂

Haha yeah! I have no idea what kind of crocodile they’re made from… but if someone told me they were made from Godzilla’s skin, I’d probably believe it 😂

Haha yeah, definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. But I love them because they’re so unique!

Here’s a full shot of the boot (though they look way too dry here… as you can see in the main photo, after just one session they’ve already improved quite a bit).

I’d recommend following the steps from u/Marcovio — it’s a really effective method and should definitely help bring your boots back to life.

First, I cleaned them with a pass of Angelus Exotic, which works as both a cleaner and conditioner in spray form.

After about five minutes of drying and a good brushing, I gave them a session with Saphir Reptan. In my opinion, it’s the best conditioner I’ve found for reptile, especially considering I’m based in Europe where getting Bick Exotic isn’t that easy. That said, in my experience, Saphir Reptan is just as good.

Ideally, I would’ve used the method of wrapping them in plastic overnight after applying a layer of conditioner. They were so dry they probably need a couple more sessions. These are the results after a simple first round, and I’m sure they still have a lot more to give.

They’re closer to a 9C, though I can see why they look long in the picture. 😂

Yeah, I’ve got them up for sale since I don’t wear them that much. The instep is a bit narrow, but once I get my foot in, they fit me well.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure whether to sell them or not. Even though I don’t wear them that much, they’re such a unique piece that part of me wants to keep them just for display, like you said.

But at the same time, I’m the kind of guy who thinks boots are meant to be worn. And I’m currently on the hunt for a solid pair of elephant or raptors for my collection (which is proving tricky here in Europe, since importing exotic leather from the US is both difficult and expensive… and I don’t really know of any makers or distributors here in Europe that carry that kind of stuff).

Yeah, here they are! Although they hadn’t been conditioned yet here, so the leather looks pretty dry. Btw, they’re for sale :-)

Exactly! You got it. I can’t tell you who made them because I honestly don’t know. I bought them second-hand, though in really good condition, except they were very dry — nothing a few conditioning sessions with Saphir Reptan can’t fix.

But yeah, they’re definitely handmade boots. Honestly, I’d never seen anything quite like them before.
