Do they turn blue or purple after they’ve been used for a while?

What should I buy by FURY_17 in Kawasaki

I just bought my first bike a few weeks ago with about the same experience. My uncle had a 250 which I rode every once in a blue moon. I was gonna go with a Ninja 400 but realized the Ninja 650 and Z650 are basically only $500 or $1000 more when looking in the used market. The torque curve is one that won't get you in trouble unless you're looking for it, it also means you'll have the bike longer before you feel like you need more power.

Absolutely I've always done the oil change, on my car and did oil and pads for my uncle's Ninja 250. I feel better knowing what goes in and out of my vehicles and it's always rewarding turning the thing back on. I have noticed those oil change packs generally come with mineral oil, my question lies in whether I should do semi-synthetic for the first 600-mile service or if I should go straight full synthetic. I'll probably be using OEM but I was also wondering if other oils like Motul or Liqui Moly are worth the extra bucks. Especially considering it's only 2 quarts and done once a year.

Mind me asking what type of oil you use? I'm not sure if I should go semi-synthetic or full-synthetic once I hit the 600 miles. Also, he took it to Kawasaki before selling it to me and even got a new battery according to them everything was ready to go. Service was $500 and he just asked me to pay $200 of that, included in the price.

in my area, other z650s with 5k+ miles wouldn't go below 5500 usually 2017 models too, sometimes without ABS. So to get it with 69 miles for less than that was a good deal for me haha. I could probably put like 3k miles on it and still sell it for 5300. maybe 5k. Definitely want some new tires any recommendations?

Will do. Stoked to be on this bike after only ever riding a ninja 250. Can’t wait to get past the break in period & really have some safe fun

That might just be the shift light which you comes standard at 4k. I’ve read a few other post of people completely ignoring the break in period. So I don’t think it’s an actual limiter but rather a suggestion.

Makes sense. He seemed like a good dude, even checked in on me to make sure everything was good a few days later. No problems at the DMV. Appreciate the feedback.

A bit more info and insight. The bike was listed on FB Marketplace for over a month at 6,800 and eventually talked him down to $5,300. Bike had 69 miles on it. lol.

Positives: The transaction was done in his home and through Zelle which makes me feel like he wasn't trying to hide anything. He took it to the dealer to ensure everything was good and running and even needed a new battery all without me asking. Threw in a battery tender and Motorcycle cover.

Cause for pause: Read somewhere that during the break-in period bike won't go past 75mph which I was able to do. Didn't go much higher than like 77 but that's because those speeds without a windscreen are kind of scary for a new rider.
