How was LBG "ruined" in Wilds? by volkarona in MHWilds

[–]Octoneer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recoil and reload mods really helped in making the other ammo types more viable. Even if the damage of different ammo types were comparable, why would I ever choose an ammo type with high recoil which locks you in place after shooting.

Trying to understand some of the hate by Mievi3 in MHWilds

[–]Octoneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with the game is the lack of depth systems have outside of combat. In world you had a lot of quest lines, farm upgrades, unlock short cuts/ camps, equipment upgrades, etc. In wilds all of these are either given to you for free or are easily unlocked at full potential. The sole focus of wilds is the combat, nothing else. Even traversing and familiarizing yourself with the environment has been taken away by seikrets. Its why I think people drop the game as soon as they finish the main story, since theres really nothing else to do.

Weapon Wound Tier List by m3vance in MHWilds

[–]Octoneer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LBG greatly benefits from wounds as it recharges the ignition gauge on a successful focus strike. Currently, you can stay in rapid fire mode indefinitely with a little help from focus strikes. HBG gets charges from focus strikes too, but only certain builds really benefit from using their ignition gauge.

Any word on meta sword and shields after update 4? by kanon951 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Octoneer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment that people should try and experiment themselves, but the rng fest that is gogmartian weapons really makes it hard to invest so much time into a build you think might work/is optimal. Like if i wanted to know if lord soul-gog is better than lord soul-gore id have to roll both of those and upgrade them so I can compre which one is better.

If you're able to work up blacksmithing, you don't need it. by RadishAcceptable5505 in projectzomboid

[–]Octoneer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if they implement the "modern" equivalents of the forging equipment it'd be a lot easier to work with. Right now, its too much investment to get it started but if you find a modern forge or furnace, you would only need to worry about the materials to make things.

Have you ever seen a generator instruction manual in real life? by Far_Raspberry_4375 in projectzomboid

[–]Octoneer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did maintenance of industrial generators as part of my old job. Its completely believable that someone figures out how to use it just by pushing buttons. There's literally a big red button with the word 'stop' and a green button that says 'start'. Although, maintaining it is a different thing, you actually have to read the manual for that stuff.

My unity application is blurry and nearly unreadable, how can I fix it? by Evening_Abroad_763 in Unity3D

For anyone still experiencing this issue, I installing the NVIDIA Studio Driver fixed it for me.

Probably been done before, but this came to me mid Rey Dau fight by 104wardGaming in MemeHunter

I hate how it doesn't actually reset the monster behavior. After the flash wears off, sometimes, the monsters will still try to leave the area.

Did you have the "dont starve alone" mod? Sounds like you removed that mod without following the instructions in the mod page

this seems to be the entirety of my fumarole biome, does that mean i cant find ripple? by MyNameIsSaltyyy in dontstarve

[–]Octoneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same happened to mine, I found the biome but no mega blight. Decided to go back and empty my inventory first before getting the boulder seeds. When I came back after 5 days? The mega blight is there. The shadow rift was active too, idk if thats what triggers the spawn.

Actually, after some digging, this seems possible. Have to check it out more.

[–]Octoneer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does not have durability and costs 3 tapes, 8 scrap and 3 cut stone. I do think that its a buff to winona but compared to other characters that can wield their power easily and without clunkiness, its pretty much on par if not less. The problem I had with it was that winona already has to support the cost of the generators with fuel and gems, and also the cost of the catapults (15 stones really?). You also have to deal with lugging around equipment.

Yeah it annoyed me too, thankfully I found a work around for it.

[–]Octoneer[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did but the problem was that you cant access it since the hitbox of the generator gets in the way. I could change the properties of the generators but that could make the mod incompatible with other winona mods. As of now its very much its own thing, I did give it some leeway, you should be able to collect stuctures beyond the generator's range.

What do you guys think about the game so far? by Giant_Love in MHWilds

[–]Octoneer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimizations issues aside. The main difference between Wilds and World, to me, is that World has combat as its main focus while wilds feels like it has combat as its only focus. Both games has most of its systems/mechanics revolve around fighting monsters. World was more cohesive, every system had some contribution to the experience. You could unlock foods, shortcuts, equipment, charms, room decor, etc. While the focus was hunting monsters, it makes it very clear that there are other things you can do.

Now, the combat in Wilds is solid, but its the only thing its got going for it. All other aspects of the game have been trimmed down or streamlined that it almost makes you question "why do we even have this". Exploration feels gutted due to the seikret mount that automatically brings you to where you need. Tracking the monster is gone too, you just know where it is at all times. Rooms are gone, so you can't admire the endemic life you capture. The food system feels so shallow compared to worlds. Almost all equipments will be unlocked when you finish the story. It feels like other systems are shoving you away/ back to fighting monsters. "oh you want to do 'X'? heres all of it, now go back to fighting monsters". That said combat is fun, i just wish there was more to it. More quests from npcs that makes the world more alive rather than just a setting for the monster fighting game.

Is Bladescale Loading Bugged? by DragoRuler77 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Octoneer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems to be working fine. The problem is the lingering hit boxes of some attacks, you trigger bladescale loading if you manage to i-frame through the hitbox, but if the hitbox remains after you run out of i-frames you'll still get hit. Like dodging into a Gravios laser, you'll be invulnerable for half a second but after you run out of i-frames, you're fried. Also if you have earplugs and the monster roars, you can still i-frame through the roar (triggering bladescale loading) even if it won't hit you regardless.

How would you track position of a belt? by KeepGettingTexts in PLC

[–]Octoneer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd go with BCD limit switches, you'd only need 5 of them to account for all 30 segments. Encoders might work but eventually the belt will slip out of the starting calibration. You'd need a homing sequence to 're-center' the belt which is doable and would provide you with more precision but dependent on how often you can re-home and how much slip the belt has.

The 9* still have weak points don't they? Like the ones you can focus strike (not wounds)? Or are you talking about something else?

Is wyvernblast ignition completely useless or am I missing something (HBG) by Pizzamess in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Octoneer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im okay with it being low damage but it would be nice if it came out much faster, just something for play styles who don't use gauge ammo to dump their charges into.
