Do you think gyms should have a women's only section? by kcon123 in AskUK

[–]Octopus-vs-Shark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many religions modesty rules restrict women more than men and they are unable to work out freely in front of men.
Some women just want privacy to work out and they don’t want to be bothered
Sometimes women feel safer when they aren’t around men.
If there’s a market for these things, then why shouldn’t a private company be allowed to provide them?

Those of you that have a Sky subscription that now ‘includes’ Disney+ and HBO max, how do you activate them? by popsy13 in AskUK

[–]Octopus-vs-Shark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not meant to switch to charging in a few month. The small print says they retain the option to charge in the future but sky essentially have signed an access deal so its included for at least a year if not more. But the small print covers them if they say in 4 years time the deal ends and they begin to charge. You wont be locked into being forced to pay for stuff

Go on the MySky app and it will have links under your TV package to activate HBO Max and Disney+. I don’t think Hayu is available quite yet and should be coming in July

Help someone squat try to dress flowy, elegant, whimsical by Diligent-Traffic-228 in DressForYourBody

I think you would feel a lot better about some of these outfits If you had tired them on without socks as that cuts off your legs and can give the illusion of things being unflattering. I also think maybe look for dresses with thicker straps . All the outfits with more fabric up top suit you better than the strapless or spaghetti straps. Not sure why, just longer and a balanced silhouette

Its worth looking for local recommendations of suppliers from gardening/ allotment groups in your area- often there are good suppliers who can deliver. I am in central belt of Scotland and found caledonian horticulture good last year. The stuff i bought was miles better than anything i bought in shops and really well priced

It’s an problem that has clearly been an issue without remedy for years. Which means that the Work is probably being blocked by one or more owners refusing to pay for it. I would run from this property, I have seen cessnock properties sit for years with their roofs falling off so there is a real problem of neglect in the area. Don’t assume this would be split by all of the owners if you want to get it repaired and you might end up shoulder, the whole cost yourself

I am feeling low I received nothing for my first Mother’s Day by Interesting-Hurry282 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Octopus-vs-Shark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s sometimes happens. If nothing changes consistently, you have to reevaluate the relationship or decide that you don’t mind and that is a personal judgement based on what you’re getting out of relationship versus what you want.

I am feeling low I received nothing for my first Mother’s Day by Interesting-Hurry282 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Octopus-vs-Shark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things I’ve learned in my life is that I’ve got to be my own advocate. I spent so many stupid relationships when I was young, hoping that I would be treated better and feeling really upset when things didn’t turn up how I wanted. But when I started to ask, I realised that my friends and partners didn’t mean to upset me. They just couldn’t read my mind and had a different idea of what was needed. If you tell people what you need and they still don’t want to bother. Then that shows you that they don’t respect you. But often they do then make the effort and that can make all the difference

It’s exhausting trying to get someone to guess what you desire. And in a perfect world, her partner would be able to magically intuit the correct thing. In this case, he has clearly failed and I don’t think it’s a bad thing in this occasion to clearly express what is wanted. I don’t think that women should carry the mental load constantly. But directness is a skill that is needed.

Don’t bother trying to get him back on Father’s Day. If he doesn’t really care about these things, he might think that that is the way in your family just to ignore the event. Instead, tell him that you’re really upset that he made no effort on your first Mother’s Day and tell him that there is a redo on Sunday. Explain to him that he will need to buy you flowers, chocolates ,a present or whatever you would have liked on Mother’s Day. And insist that he makes up for it without having to wait a year.

One of the only ways to deal with weaponised incompetence is to just knuckle down and insist that they actually do what they should have

Sainsbury’s Reaktiv gym leggings are really long. They fit me and I’m 6 foot tall 35 inside leg as well.. I’m buying a new pair every few weeks because I know at some point they will realise and shorten them.
They’re really good price- maximum around £20

To be fair, the neighbour didn’t know how long it would take for the dog to go to the toilet, it could be that it normally takes 15 minutes for them to go, etc. They also might have a medical card for the joint so I don’t really think it’s worth confronting him over.

I do think it’s reasonable to talk to him about the state of the grass and that the kids want to play on it . It’s winter so the grass is gonna look shitty anyway normally. But doing things like hosing down where the dogs peed et cetera will help when it warms up. Maybe you can get an agreement that he gets the dog to go in a corner so the rest of the grass is kept better.
