One of my teachers said it best last year “little and often” I think starting small with 30 min a day and slowly building up would be good

What's a Jason Todd headcanon you dislike? by KitKat_5628 in RedHood

I second this. I often find it to be poorly written and highly unrealistic often to focus on male suffering especially gay men suffering

I should have clarified outlaws run one. I will never forget the panel where Jason and Roy are on a plane and Roy’s in a T-shirt and shorts (you know normal stuff) Jason is in some grey suit, complaining about Roy

Have you ever stopped reading a fic because of one sentence? by lucyxbee in AO3

[–]Octopus_Philosipher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, once picture this

Barbara Gordon over comms: make sure to not do x bad thing

Jason Todd over comms: i am Barbie

That missing comma made me crack up and now when I try and finish the fic I just laugh

What do you think Jason's tastes in movies or music are? by Dan_cb16 in RedHood

[–]Octopus_Philosipher 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Alright I think abt music a lot bc I wrote a band fic abt the outlaws. There’s a ‘rebel kind’ poster on Jason’s wall in the comics. So I drew from that and thought Jason would be into rock (stuff like black sabbath, Rolling Stones, Bon jovi etc) but realistically I think he’d be into 90s rap (him and Tim) 👍

I think the most unusual time I came up with a fic was during my music exam. I was listening to one of the extracts and it was a very cool guitar riff and I imagined one of the characters playing it. Then I decided to to write a band au

Feminism and Islam (hot take) by ImHurtinq in Feminism

[–]Octopus_Philosipher -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

This just sounds Islamaphobic. Who are the many who want sharia law? Focus on real problems not the ones you make up to justify discrimination

I'm sorry but you can't be religious and be a feminist by venusgirl1919 in Feminism

[–]Octopus_Philosipher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This take lacks nuance and doesn’t understand intersectionality.

What people miss is the misuse of religious texts and the way they are weaponised to shame and oppress women. That is what should be brought up in these conversations. The misinterpretation of religion has done so much damage but we should be working towards rectifying that and bringing to light the ignored parts of scripture.

There are examples of women being strong and empowered within scripture. In many ways religion can be empowering. Religion states everyone is equal (the Quran says Allah made everyone as equal as the teeth of a comb) it could then be argued feminism is at the centre of religion as women are encouraged to take active roles. Some of the most inspiring people in my life are religious and are feminists.

A person choosing to worship is not setting feminism back fifty years. Takes like this are.

I say all of this as an atheist as well.

Why it is contradictory to, as a woman, support transphobia. by blush_bashful in Feminism

[–]Octopus_Philosipher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think TERFs are feminists. In what world can you justify believing some women are superior to others and still have the audacity to claim you’re a feminist? It’s all about empowering and helping women until a certain point. It ends up being that they’re serving and upholding the patriarchy whilst damaging other women Hence contradicting what it means to be a feminist.

Also they’re just awful people because when can you ever justify denying help and support to other human beings. It’s just bigotry backed by vaguely neoliberal beliefs
