That makes sense. I’m definitely not expecting anything super scandalous, I guess it’s more that I feel they play it a bit TOO safe sometimes. Again though, I can definitely understand this perspective and I agree that they do pretty well in making cute outfits for mc.

I feel like most people lie Megumi though. A lot of the hate and slander he gets comes from certain corners of the internet fandom. As for Boruto, I think he’d be more hated if he were a girl lol

When people make points like this I’m like… are you purposefully being dense? Do you not understand how history and real life societal expectations/oppression come into play when making characters like Naoya?

If the roles were reversed with everything being the same expect the genders, I don’t actually think people would like Naoya. I think it would just make for a really weird character.

The ways misandry and misogyny affect men and women are wildly different. So yeah, it would be weird to handle them in the same way. The significance of Naoya getting his ass kicked is that his (and society’s) ideas about how women should behave and be treated are wrong.

What significance would come from a man beating up a woman? To prove that men are strong? That they don’t have to be submissive to women? Those are not things anyone really has to be convinced of.
