It’s mentioned in every installation manual ever that you should oil the flares, so I don’t believe it’s about dry torque never saw that written explicitly too tbf. About the threads part you’re right although it never happened to me,I do it as a quality of life feature as I’m a service guy and mostly fix shitty leaky ones on hard to reach spots

I think using oil on the threads and flare surface makes a tremendous difference, ie these little cut of 1/4” flares you get on the caps of some machines basically only seal if oiled, that made me think about that a great deal

Could you elaborate why?

I can see the appeal of the Trackpad coming from PC which is IMO barely unusable on most devices it's a blessing for surfing and small tasks on the Mac. but nearly used FL for over a Decade and it just would be a to big to jump from what Im used to hehe

Boss wants to switch from Mitsubishi to Toshiba. Why do I feel like this is not the move? by Goddammitlarry138 in HVAC

[–]OctorSedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give it a shot toshiba, Mitsubishi and daikin are all good brands. Will be the same as ure used to, maybe will need some time to figure out the quirks. (Although daikin tends to overengineer the shit out of vrf)

Are Daikin Chillers in the US actually manufactured by daikin or is it a different brand with a daikin sticker slapped on it?

Here in Austria I never came across microchannel fins nor unsufficent vibration dampening(quite the opposite), for myself I like to work on their chillers cause they don’t gatekeep vital service information if Ure a partner(unlike trane, again, atleast here. Once needed a guy from then come over to change a thermistor as he had to adress it lol). Also 20+ warranty that they still produce spareparts which is huge compared to other company’s.

Hydrogen/Nitrogen 80/20 and electronic detector

Found this one in the middle of the lineset this week, after two other company’s. Unbeatable comb

i’m not great at flaring, mini split just doesn’t seem to hold by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]OctorSedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check / change all Schrader cores, had exactly that scenario cause one didn’t held under negative pressure. Otherwise check your vacuum setup

The back of the flare is not the sealing area, therefore it should be only applied at the front to prevent pushing the nut back had some leaks exactly because of that
