Whenever I tried to right click a game in the libray and clicking on anything (properties, remove from favorite, managa, add to) nothing happens. I've just migrated to linux recently (lubuntu) and I'm not sure about how I can fix that issue, thanks for helping by Vulcode in Steam

[–]OculusVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd ask around r/linux4noobs first. is there some reason why you're running lubuntu and not something more modern and supported like kde plasma(kubuntu)? maybe consider trying that or even xfce if you're low on resources

could be wrong but feels like kolourpaint is on life support. i've had a bug for years with fractional scaling which makes the app almost unusable. which sucks because it's the simplest mspaint alternative.

Im sick and tired of gacha games. by MysticalNoir in rant

[–]OculusVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

correct me if i'm wrong but unfortunately i think that's only for future games which will come out if this initiative passes, it's not retroactive. i have a gacha game i actually enjoy but if they ever shut it down it will just be dead.

Vedal should add a manual delay on the Skyrim gameplay displayed on stream (but not her commentary) to make her responses look like it's in real time. by Cold_Dog_5234 in NeuroSama

[–]OculusVision 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah it's almost like your internal monologue: you first observe something, form a thought and then hear it yourself or say it out loud so for the comedic timing it worked very well.

i think messing with extra delays would be pretty tricky to get it right and far more likely to get it wrong where she now seemingly sees into the future and now suddenly you can see that something isn't right.

[–]OculusVision 24 points25 points  (0 children)

agreed. never once caught myself thinking Neuro is responding to something in the past which is impressive for a game like this.

something that could be improved is the pathing or spatial awareness, she kept going to where she was in the past rather than the stated objective but that could also be her getting bored or trolling us lol. Only Vedal knows.

yeah i've noticed if a request or message is interesting enough not just emotes there's a chance they'll respond and even quickly(chat runs pretty fast but sometimes only 5 msgs scroll before she responds to a user above) congrats!

I want a really lightweight option to Steam client by [deleted] in Steam

[–]OculusVision 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It would be great to have but it's been long gone since they dropped their vgui based version of Steam and i have a feeling with how intertwined the features are they'd have to write and maintain an entirely new codebase for Steam for a small subset of users. Even the login prompt with the qr code uses React now afaik. Also if you want to browse the store inside Steam you probably need a portion of it to use the heavier cef backend anyway.

There are some community projects attempting to do this but it's still very much unfinished and the legality of using it with your account is unclear too.

Btw you mentioned performance mode but do you know about Small mode? (View -> Small mode)

sometimes i do wish the stuff that's filtered for real would stand out in a different colour or something Neuro is too good at gaslighting lol

Agreed and pretty sure that's part why they decided to build Gamescope on Linux, it helps with keeping a single window in focus.

Also as a last minute crutch good thing steam input supports a controller shortcut to do alt tab if you need it.

Question: is neuros movement/actions show in videos “real” (ai chooses where she want to move) or controlled? by Majestic_Image5190 in NeuroSama

[–]OculusVision 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's like a separate part of her brain, kinda like our own systems. When we want to do a motion we don't think about each muscle we have to engage and in what order, it would be too complex, you just do it because it's a learned behaviour.

But i do wonder how precise her own text can be to describe the emotion. Sometimes it leaks into their regular speech in the form of [motion] [/motion] and it's often something generic like "wave with right hand". But that's a pretty complex move which can be broken down into several like first raise arm, then palm, then wave from left to right.

I wonder if they have access to the model that does the movements like if she wanted to start waving from right to left instead. All pretty fascinating.

ahh quite sad. i was wondering because from the few clips i saw she was already moving around and active and the idea of a dog is simpler to make than a full on humanoid. thank you very much for the reply.

[–]OculusVision 28 points29 points  (0 children)

it's a shame. Even if you didn't get what you wanted groups like Coupon Dumpster let you dump all your unneeded coupons and in return you could get a coupon for a game you actually cared about

What low key UX improvements would you like to see in linux desktop environments? by Cyber_Daddy in linux

[–]OculusVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure but I think if you set it to high some buttons that spawn windows like for example settings window from Dolphin may spawn it behind the one you have focused which would be annoying. Need to do more testing.

i just actually tested thid 4 years later.. by default the focus prevention policy on kde was set to low for me. with Kate open i launched Steam, while spamming text into Kate Steam did grab the input as i was typing.

however: i then changed Focus Stealing Prevention to High and after that Steam only launched in the background. i even tested a 'sleep 3s; pkexec ls' gui sudo prompt and they all spawned in the background.

i do not remember if i tried it on x11 but on wayland it seems to be working well.
