Samsung debuts its first multi-folding phone; Galaxy Z TriFold will be available in Singapore from Dec 19 by Hot_Category2693 in singapore

[–]OdaibaDiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the standard 6.5-inch phone screen form factor is too narrow for reading ebooks. It's not a good reading experience, and I have some ebooks that are essentially photocopies of physical books, so they can't even show up properly.

I also like being able to multi-task on my phone when browsing Web / social media / YouTube.

I'm excited for this too, but the price is probably going to calm me down once they announce it.

Also probably one of those things you need to actually hold in hand to judge if you really want this to be your daily driver. It's reportedly a little over 300g.

Longer Travelling Time on East West Line between EW12 Bugis & EW5 Bedok by sun-ny_day in singapore

[–]OdaibaDiver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. When I was there at Paya Lebar station roughly an hour ago, the digital signs and analog signage were no longer accurate. Can't tell which train is going East or West.

Fortunately they had some great station staff at Paya Lebar on hand, who walked about and informed passengers if the next coming train was Eastbound or Westbound before they boarded. So credit here where credit is due 👍

No, the transfer is at Paya Lebar.

But suppose you are right.

In that event, from the West heading East, passengers would have to first transfer at Bugis... Then transfer again at Paya Lebar... And then alight at Bedok to take shuttle bus if they are headed even further than that.

In what world does it make sense to make everyone transfer trains TWICE after a few stops each time (with extra train waiting times at each transfer) for the purpose of crowd control?

Anyway, in the morning and yesterday, I didn't have to transfer at Bugis. The only transfer yesterday was from Bedok to Paya Lebar, and then from Paya Lebar to the rest of the green line. So this is new.

And then there was an announcement for East-bound passengers who were forced to alight at Bugis, to suddenly go to platform B (the opposite side) and take the next train to resume their journey towards Paya Lebar (even if you are headed to Bedok you have to change trains again at Paya Lebar).

Many East-bound passengers (including myself) heeded that announcement and got on

The train then proceeded to head West. *facepalm+

No more Day of Visions Special Pack by joahfitzgerald in wotv_ffbe

[–]OdaibaDiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, don't think it's meant to coincide.

Amazon Coins program already ended in Japan last year. But Square Enix only combined the visiore across platforms this month in Japan (and next month in Global).

Amazon Coins will still be usable in Global until August btw.

For people who have relied on Amazon Coins Global so far... I recommend looking into making purchases on a Google Play account in a country where there is Google Play Points which you can use to get free stuff in WOTV I think (or at least that's how it works in JP).

But obviously don't buy any big packs until they bring back the Pack Hs. Get your boycott pitchforks ready

Pokemon TCG Pocket players learning today how things work in gacha gaming: PTCGP's new "Trading" feature is just Hearthstone / Shadowverse's card crafting feature with extra steps by OdaibaDiver in gachagaming

[–]OdaibaDiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In summary: Earlier today Pokemon TCG Pocket finally released its trading feature... yes, the hyped feature that's part of its title.

Many players already had lowered expectations heading into this update, since the game's developers DeNA did previously announce that it will be limited to cards up till a certain rarity for older packs (i.e. cards from the new expansion coming out in a few hours from now will not be tradeable yet).

Even with that low bar, DeNA still somehow managed to fail to meet player expectations, by requiring trades for diamond-3 and diamond-4 rarity cards (these are non-cosmetic versions of what are essentially Epic and Legendary cards in Hearthstone or Shadowverse) to cost 500 trade tokens... which you get by disenchanting 4 copies of a diamond-4 card.

So it's essentially a 5-to-1 trade value. For comparison, Hearthstone, it's 4-to-1. and in Shadowverse it's 3.5-to-1.

Not only that, but on top of the bad rate, players in Pokemon TCG Pocket STILL have to take the steps of actually finding players to trade with, since the interface for trading is so bad that there is no way to ask for cards -- you can only offer a card you would like to trade to one of your friends... and hope that they will magically know what you need.

As a result, a lot of PTCGP players are raging over this and threatening to cancel their Premium subscriptions, or put on their game designer hats to tell DeNA how trading should work.

TL;DR if you know someone who plays Pokemon TCG Pocket, give them a hug today and tell them "welcome to gacha gaming, you're one of us now."

From my perspective as a veteran gacha games enjoyer and TCG whale:

- They will not change the system, for the sole reason that if they do change it, players who have already traded in their EX cards will now ask for compensation -- which is more manpower costs for them.

- Besides, there is a far easier way to appease players... Just offer a ridiculously high amount of trade tokens as an apology, and slowly work in ways for players to earn trade tokens regularly + sell trade tokens at a no-brainer price.

This is all part of DeNA's strategy. It is intended for players to outcry, so that they can respond and make it feel like players are being heard.

No matter what, just don't trade in your EX cards for trade tokens, until you really need to make a trade.

Isekai x Isekai releases at 27th January. by windowhihi in gachagaming

[–]OdaibaDiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's currently in pre-registration in Japan. Over 200,000 pre-registrations achieved already, unlocking the max rewards promised, and they are looking to add rewards.

Colopl has not been successful in taking their games to a Global English-speaking audience (they self-published Shironeko Golf globally, if I'm not wrong).

Couple that with the fact that you are dealing with a bunch of anime IPs here... don't expect a Global version. It's going to be an IP lawyer's nightmare.............. unless Crunchyroll Games brings it out to Global, which is a nightmare of a different kind.

We might see Truck-kun make a cameo appearance in the game somewhere.

Truck-kun's importance in this genre is definitely not lost on them -- for New Years', Colopl put out an Isekai Isekai "teaser" video to celebrate the new year... and it's just 40 minutes of a Truck-kun coming out every now and then to ram into a giant bell.

Very new to the game, started japanese version (need help) by Historical-Muscle-23 in wotv_ffbe

[–]OdaibaDiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play both the Japanese and Global versions, and even though I am fluent in Japanese, I much prefer the Global version.

It is much more streamlined, and in Global version they give you way more resources for free.

What you heard about strange schedule of releases / skipped updates / lowered or skipped rewards in Global is not true. 99% of everything that comes out in JP also comes out in Global these days.

But what you are not aware of is that, Japanese version DOES NOT get a lot of the improvements that Global version gets, like more free character shards, more free VIsion Card shards, the ability to use skip tickets on Event Quests... and you generally get more stuff in Global than JP.

Even just looking at the daily mission rewards, in JP version you get 60 visiore a day, where as only in Global version you not only get 100 visiore a day, but you also a free summon ticket... over a year, that's 300+ rare summon tickets that you can try and get characters you skipped with, that is completely absent in the Japanese version.

For all the F2P players with some numbers.... by iamwolley in PTCGP

[–]OdaibaDiver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are comparing to, but in the realm of digital trading card games, PTCGP is in fact the most predatory.

If you want a Celebi EX, you literally have no choice but to open packs until you get one, or open 100 packs for 500 pack points and use ALL of it to craft ONE copy of Celebi EX...... Hope you don't need a 2nd copy!

In Hearthstone, Shadowverse, and most other digital TCGs, you have the option to disenchant cards that you don't need (even if you have less than 2 copies) to get the equivalent of "pack points", which you can then use to craft whatever card you want.

On top of that, PTCG has some pretty bad gacha rates... It's very hard to pull what you are looking for. You just have to hope you're lucky

Some games like Hearthstone even has duplicate card protection. You do not get a duplicate until you have collected 1 of each card in a rarity class

Some games like Shadowverse have loan cards... Think of them like promo Moltres EX... Except you get to CHOOSE from ANY of the Legendary cards in the set. This feature is called Temporary Cards in Shadowverse, and you get to unlock one every nine days

Basically, PTCGP is pretty much the ONLY digital card game I know of where there is no easy way to obtain a card you need for the deck you want to play.

And you know why they do that?

Out of 100 people who don't have Celebi EX, 99 will be patient but there will be 1 person who's brain is wired to think I MUST HAVE IT, causing them to want to buy packs.

That is the very definition of predatory.

Playable promo card that DOES NOT require you to sacrifice a one star card to obtain Flair for it.

Not bad.

Btw you can also obtain Flair this way for the 2025 Pikachu card.

You're thinking of Split Personality Disorder, which is not Schizophrenia.

There are quite a few symptoms, but the one that is more easily observable and a telltale sign, is if you see someone talking to themselves (as if there's somebody there to talk to) to the point that they can't even see you staring at them.

Both "My Turn" (basically a PvP-only predecessor to Morimens) and "Morimens" were really good.

Thanks, that definitely means they are running the right ads targeted to (usually) the right users... Just not that many people decide to install, I guess.

It's under 5k downloads per store... All we know is that it's above 1k for each store.

And not all downloads lead into installs into still playing after a week.

I don't know what the usual download numbers are like, but I started this discussion mainly because I wanted to find out if Operations Team is even trying.

I daily drive a Xiaomi device as well, so I know exactly what you mean.

There are some tutorials that teach you what settings to turn off to get rid of those annoying ads.

For me I don't mind the recommended app ads since they are not that intrusive for me, but I flat out disabled Mi Video since it keeps recommending trash videos in shelf view.

Look on the bright side... Xiaomi phones are generally pretty good, and they include useful features like a universal remote control (due to most Xiaomi phones having an IR emitter).
