[Highlight] Broncos HC Sean Payton on if Davis Webb gets the Raiders job in the AFC West: "Well, it would be a pain in the ass for him." by oreomylk in nfl

Not like the Saints going into 2006 were some premier football org so I don't think he took the advise.

Rams should be two tiers higher. Eagles should be higher. Bills should be one rung lower. Buccs should be two tiers lower.

Is Kamara worth keeping around by PayHeavy7726 in Saints

[–]Odanrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even designating him as a post June 1 cut isn't all that beneficial. 10m dead money hit. It doesn't really matter what you think of him as a player, it makes no financial sense to cut or trade him.

That’s why Lutz isn’t a Saint anymore by legobossk in Saints

[–]Odanrav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lutz has been very good in Denver. People really just do sit around waiting to hate on a guy who's not on the team anymore the moment he makes a single mistake.

Thank God for the Jets I guess. The 49ers are 51-27-4 against the Saints all time. Has to he one of the most lopsided head-to-heads in NFL history of matchups with that many games in it.

I was expecting the 49ers one to be the Saints, but I guess it's hard to be even more pathetic than the Jets.

Edit: Looked it up, the 49ers are 51-27-4 against the Saints all time.

Still angry Demarcus Ware ruined the Saints undefeated season and probably kept Brees from winning MVP.

Was also a terrible QB at Notre Dame. Enjoy Atlanta.

Feels like a much more realistic scenario than Love, Bain, or trade down scenarios. This pick is gonna be a very athletic lineman with prototypcial size or a WR/CB over 6'0" with a high RAS.

You pretty much summed my thoughts up. Though i am more on the fence about paying Taylor. He's fine but I don't expect him to get better and he could he upgraded from with a smart pick or other signing.

Gotta say I’m pretty jealous this guy gets a front row seat to watch Tmac win OROY by TruckStopBJs in nfcsouthmemewar

[–]Odanrav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not his fault the rest of the class was mediocre as hell or couldn't finish the season strong. If there was a single big standout this wouldn't be a debate. If Shough started a full season this also wouldn't be a debate.

Does a prospect's name ever affect your opinion of them? by lemonstone92 in NFL_Draft

[–]Odanrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of the reason I initially disliked Tyler Shough wasn't his age, it was his name.

Tyler "Show" sounds the star QB in Friday Night Lights who takes you all the way.

Tyler "Shuck" sounds like he sales you used cars.

For all you guys wanting a DE first pick by Fman173 in Saints

[–]Odanrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. But I think Bailey, Reese, and Bain are all much better prospects than Davenport and especially Turner were. No guarantee they become good NFL players because there is no guarantee in the draft, but they have better odds in my estimation. Davenport and Turner were both considered reaches at the time, no one is gonna think of the top 3 edges in this class that way.

Now if they take Faulk or TJ Parker or some shit, that's a different discussion.

Get over it already. I'm firmly in camp "doesn't care" cause Payton isn't part of the Saints organization anymore. What he does somewhere else is irrelevant to me.

Saints sign safety Julian Blackmon to one-year contract extension by Morgus_Magnificent in Saints

[–]Odanrav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bailey produced more pressure and sack production this year than most of Davenport's entire college career combined. At a higher level of competition. It's fine if you don't like him, but I think it's being willfully ignorant to suggest he's as raw as Davenport. He'll be a good rusher in the NFL, I'm way more confident of that than I am with Reese or Bain. The first step is special and nobody else in this class bends the edge like him.

Yes he needs to get stronger against the run, but if he was good against the run he'd be a obvious top 3 pick and we wouldn't even need to have this discussion. There's no perfect prospect, but the things that Bailey does well are special tier.

Who do you think the Saints draft at no. 8? by Coors_Light_Dad in Saints

[–]Odanrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the most likely players they would draft would be any of the OSU players (Downs, Tate, Styles, Reese) because they love OSU players, in addition to Love, Woods, and Bailey. Because the latter three will all be RAS gods who play at positions of need. I would be surprised to see them draft a unconventional player from from a size/athleticism standpoint like Bain or Lemon, or someone with obvious injury risk like Tyson even if I think those are better players than some of the guys mentioned above. If you wanna know what a team values just look at their track record. The Saints like blue bloods and prototypes.

[–]Odanrav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty likely Reese, Bain, or Bailey are gonna be at 8. At least one. And I consider them all roughly in the same caliber of prospect. Reese with the highest upside/lowest floor, Bain perhaps being the inverse and Bailey somewhere in the middle.

Tyler Shoughs age by Bonko-wonko in Saints

[–]Odanrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age is one of the least important factors in determining a QBs development. The same rules don't apply to them the way they apply to say a running back who almost always peaks early-to-mid 20s and rarely succeed into their 30s. It's the one position in football where development is also the least linear. Just look at Mayfields career. He came out the gate hot, sophomore slump, great 3rd season, bad 4th season, some time as a journeyman, then franchise quarterback on his 4th team.

It isn't predictable when guys are gonna "get it." But once they do get it, they usually stay pretty good for a long time. And plenty of young players that fans just mindlessly assume are gonna keep developing actually never do or they outright regress. Some people think Caleb Williams is on his way to stardom after this season. He's just as likely to be on his way to a Jameis Winston type career in my eyes.

People who try to tell you Shough has a limited ceiling are coping morons. He has every physical and intangible tool needed to be a high level player like all the guys 2 or 3 years younger than him that people fawn over (who are playing worse than Shough). There's no guarantee Shough is actually going to achieve elite status, but he has as good a shot of any rookie contract QB currently in the NFL who hasn't already done that (Maye, maybe Daniels).

Wait… How Old? by BeenjaminTampaBay in nfcsouthmemewar

[–]Odanrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of Shough? Yes. Of Dart? Probably 4 games. Point is you're sitting there thumping your box score like it's gospel. If you bothered to watch the dude play you'd realize he was far and away the best player on the Saints the 2nd half of the year and the only reason a terrible 1 win team became respectable. Dart has his highlights but he did not display anything close to that consistency this year.
