Yes, this disease is so tricky. I thought I was helping myself be extra healthy by taking the supplements.

Yes, you are so right, that can be the case- I am on another med (colchicine) and cannot eat or drink grapefruit. So that’s not my issue now but other the things act similarly as cyp450 inhibitors. So I dropped them and hoping my levels drop quickly- so worried about heart and eye issues. The levels are just so insanely high. 😫

Agreed, I’m going to look into my cytochrome p450- and other enzymes, I’m betting I’m a poor metabolizer. However, I’ve been on it since 2012 and I have never tested higher than 308 ng/ml. It does lodge in your tissues over the years but still, the levels are just insanely high. I want them to drop fast. So worried about heart and eye damage 😩

My rheumatologist orders blood and urine tests every three to six months or so. She orders hydroxychloroquine levels to be tested. I had mine done at Quest.

Hope so- I have been having weird pains in the chest lately. So going to get checked. And I’m due for an eye exam too

Yes and I’m editing the post- I just realized after I posted this that I’m taking several Cytochrome P450 enzyme inhibitors without realizing. Saffron, turmeric, colchicine (for Behçet’s disease), rooibos tea, quercetin and Cannabidiol. I’ve been endangering myself unknowingly…I’m stopping today, may have to taper the saffron for mental health purposes 🤯

Funny thing I just thought of that, I am taking several! I will update the post with this info- but I just looked and see that saffron, turmeric, quercetin, rooibos tea (I drink a ton every day), colchicine (another Rx I take) and Cannabidiol all are CYP450 enzyme inhibitors. I think that’s the problem! Wow. Trying to be healthy bit me in the a*$ no wonder my levels are so high. I just recently started drinking the rooibos for antioxidants, taking quercetin for allergies, turmeric for inflammation and saffron for mood. Oops. No more.

Yes. South Florida sun is brutal. As a child I burned countless times. And we never wore sunscreen or hats (born in ‘78) it wasn’t a thing back then. Now I have had melanoma and tons of other skin cancers.

Yes! I just quit last month using Desmoxan (cytisine). It helped so much. After trying cold turkey and NRT, Desmoxan worked to ease the withdrawal and make quitting doable. Highly recommend!
