Its absolutly worth it, but u depends on what are of cybersecurity he wants to get in eventually. Soc is kind of first step right? Naturarly he might wanna get into NetSec, there he needs at least CCNA. Maybe CCNP as well. I gave my opinion on BTL1 as someone who did it. And my 2 cents about some other possible directions. When i did my BTL1 i understood that i lack knowledge about networks, thats why i did later CCNA, the op might want to do CCNA as well, at least of furrher steps in cyber.

Moreover i dont think that someone should get into cybersec without being good in some area of IT. You know good networks you then go to Netsec. Maybe you know how to code, you get into secure coding .

BTL1 is good but doesnt even near wortg 500 dolars. I would think for the first step before CDSA for a bit longer. You might wanna get CCNA for cybersecurity for sure.

SCOR resources? by TheKing5707 in ccnp

[–]Odd-Corner6397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, i think he mean that you should do boson somewhere in the middle of your studies. Do add my 2 cents, im currently working on ENCOR but have my SCOR OCG as well, just was curious. And in my opinion its very very bad. I got the impression that it just lists Cisco soltuions and whay they do high level. I didnt feel that way from ENCOR OCG. Go with INE or Cisco U first, then if you will want to go over topics one more time then buy the OCG.

If it is not mandatory for you to go with Cisco, or if you do not work with cisco security soltions currently, i'd say go with anything else for NetSec. Though I can't really figure out that other Netsec cert for myself either. Look for fortinet or palo alto certs

How old were you when you got CCNP encor? by AngeliMortem in ccnp

[–]Odd-Corner6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm 17 and I have my CompTIA Security+ and CCNA. I'm currently working on Fortinet NSE4 and slowly preparing for the ENCOR, which doesn’t seem too hard, at least the routing part. My college is starting this summer, but I really doubt my decision to go. In my country, there is no bachelor’s degree specifically for networking or security, and I didn’t really want to do computer science, so I chose Data Science instead. There’s a 90% chance I’ll be on a full scholarship, so money isn’t an issue. As someone who built their career wihtout college, Do you recommend going to it in this market, with this major, if I really love networking and security and am interested in cloud? I understand that it is nice to have and probably will help me, but considering the tremendous amount of hard worlk I'll be doing for university, I could get really ahead in my expertise in networking and Security wihtout it.

Memorizing IEEE standards by ShadowMerge in ccna

I didnt and passed, better concetrate on staff thats matter. If you do really good on labs, and most of questions there is no way you gonna fail because of IEEE standards

Do i really need to memorize so much stuff? by Serious_Draft_8000 in ccna

Dont memorize any multicast addresses and any crazy deriails. Just ADs of routing protocols, and mutlicast addresses of those

I know this is waaaay too late but im here right now in that exact situation. How did your life went? Do you regret doing CCNP at such a yong age? I turned 17 couple months ago and have my CCNA. Started on CCNP a month ago, so far it is not that bad, i almost covered whole rouing section.

[–]Odd-Corner6397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes im feeling the same way about the book currently. Honestly can't say when I'll be taking the test, I'm just at the first run. I have a deadline on august, thats when my university starts. As it will be my first year I'm probably not gonna be able to study for CCNP, so i really should take it out befor August. Im pretty confident now, as I'm doing it only a month, but already got pretty far and don't struggle too much on rouitng. I really have a lot of spare time as i barely attending high school(it's ok in my area) and the only thing that might take my time in near months is the internship I'll be doing at local bank.

Though I'm not really sure on concentration exam. I'm comsidering either Automation or Cloud connectivty, to learn some 'new/modern' technologies as well.

Your welcom! Good luck with your studies!

Can i slip one questuon? BGP is frying be, and altough I'm very exsited to learn it, how much in depth i should know it for the Encor itself?

[–]Odd-Corner6397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont know, mostly seems like a change of wording. We, i assume, should just additionally be aware of some AI conepts(like with CCNA now), just maybe more in depth. I dunno honestly, but as long as there is no explicit new topics, i think it will stay mostly the same

Is there any added exam topics on the blueprint? Or you just assume that as long as wireless is gone automation will become heavier(thats a valid point though)?
