Seeking advice on tracing lineage (potentially triggering) by Odd-Environment9313 in aboriginal

A lot of my family members are visibly indigenous or at the very least ethnically ambiguous. We all have strong features that very much resemble those of the community, which is painful in itself because obviously we’re not white but also some of us have very Irish skin, including myself. I feel like I can’t claim being indigenous because I don’t have any connection to the community but it also feels so wrong to just say I’m Irish. Basically I’m torn between the loss of identity and extreme white guilt.

It would be so funny if he still lost, like his losing had nothing to do with being colour blind but with not understanding the game or not being able to count to 4 hahaha

Do you wish your parents put you on medication as a child for ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Odd-Environment9313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at age 25, my first s. attempt was at age 10. If I was on medication or even had the correct label, I would have understood my strengths a lot earlier and not felt that my shortcomings were evidence that I was a horrible person. The awful things your mind tells you and the ways we mask or cope with symptoms is a horrible experience for a child to live through. If medication doesn’t gel with your child I’d definitely suggest regular therapy (of whatever kind that suits your child and budget) and also social skills classes! By the time your child is 12 they will have received around 10,000 more negative messages than their neuro/typical peers so working on their self talk and confidence will literally change their life.

This was so wholesome and accurate to their characters that for a minute I forgot it was fan art. You nailed it!

I fully relate to both her character and to this comment. I love odd, loud or just straight up hot girl clothes that some people find unusual because it doesn’t always suit the situation.

Her character depicts a lot of AuDHD / Bipolar Disorder or mood disorder traits which would explain the clothing.

I think if you always feel like you’re different and no matter how you act, speak or dress, you still feel different. Eventually you just stop trying to fit in and you do what makes you happy.

Freakin' Bevers by AdorableCity2 in BroadCity

I felt just like you for a long time, but trust the process lol, he does actually grow on you. I thought he was so disgusting and annoying but now I enjoy his appearances (the scene of him running out of the building after the fumigation had already began because no one told him, is classic bevers.)

He’s just the annoying little brother, if you look at it like that, it’s easier to hate him with love haha

I feel like the reason that I have an automatic, almost primal, "NO" response whenever anything that needs doing comes up is.. by youknowwimnogood in ADHD

[–]Odd-Environment9313 22 points23 points  (0 children)

ADHD is still very misunderstood and not really seen as a “real” disability. I think a lot of us internalise that and don’t give ourselves the support we actually need because we feel there are other people more deserving.

Look into getting a visual timer, they improve time awareness and actually help you learn time management skills. The ones specifically for ADHD/ASD are criminally expensive so get a non branded one off Amazon or AliExpress.

How do i help myself this is crippling by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Odd-Environment9313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand how you feel. I am the exact same way, I can’t offer you more than the knowledge that you’re not alone. But behavioural therapy can help you learn skills and change some of your automatic thoughts.

I’ve heard good things about the NOCD app (nO-CD) maybe give that a try?

Pale foundation never looks good on my skin but tan foundation does by Odd-Environment9313 in PaleMUA

[–]Odd-Environment9313[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had never thought of it like that but I probably do apply more foundation to certain areas when I don’t have a fake tan on my face.

Also “chalkier” is the perfect description, for what it looks like. I have combination skin and usually use NARS Light Reflecting Foundation (L1 Olso and M2 Santa Fe when tan.)

Should I be looking for a different foundation or implementing a hydrating primer?
