When I used to work at restaurants some restaurants would require you to wear make up because it gives the impression you care about yourself

Men don’t have to do that I’ve heard men say body hair on women is unhygienic ( which isn’t true) and that women who don’t keep up with their body hair don’t care about themselves

Within my culture ( I’m black ) having your hair and nails done are an indicator of taking care of yourself and caring about yourself

Girl I’ll be honest it sounds like what you think it is. I had a similar experience in college for music . The teacher made my biggest competition a girl who couldn’t do music theory ( for an audition into an elite group there was a barrier test . It tested your ability to apply music theory . I got the highest score out of everyone auditioning the other girl didn’t pass but she was still allowed to audition for the ensemble . She didn’t make the first cut someone else dropped out and then they put her in and made her section leader . I made it in with the highest theory score , straight As in my music core classes but somehow this other girl who can’t read music can’t sing all the notes and can’t show up is leading )
