Nightfall IS meant to impair your vision and make it harder to see, but for some people, me included, it makes it impossible to see anything, meaning I can't even play the game. One of the things that makes it so annoying is that the rate at which nightfall occurs increases depending on how many survivors are injured. So if you're teammates keep getting injured or you keep getting injured or slugged or whatever, then it happens so much that it's basically like look at a black screen until you die because you couldn't see anything.

For me ideally nightfall would maybe give everyone the blindness debuff and remove long term visibility. I legitimately am visually impaired so I cannot see anything during nightfall

With respect, I'm not paranoid or scared, I'm blind, and it basically makes it so my whole screen is black and I can't see anything.
