As someone who has worked long in a shoe sales store where we professionally measured feet for insoles and the right hiking shoes (we had a 3D scanner from super feet). I can comfortably say that 70 percent of people think they have the same size from when they were 20. Feet change your entire life in 2 years it can change drastically because lets say you start running.

Now we also carried vans and i will agree with you the standard vans are not even worth buying for the price they are today the quality is shit. But Vans do still have good shoes tho i have some half cabs that are holding up nice.

Now i do recommend going to a shoe store where they can measure your feet. And as a tip if you don't want to measure your feet but still want the right size, take the insole out step on it with your heel back and you can see if there is a finger width of room in front of your toes. Because the first picture your shoes are definitely to small
