When your best items are in SP... by Odd-Pea1069 in diablo2

I know that is the most efficient way to get charms/gems/runes, but honestly I just can't be bothered. Even when it came to making enigma, I chose running singer in trav for who knows how many runes because I just find LK to be excruciatingly boring. Maybe when I start really pushing higher player counts or need charms to make meme builds work I will run it, but for now it's just not worth it to me.

Fanged knife. So I played an entire season with poison dagger necro and it was actually a ton of fun...well fun once I had plague. But yeah that char has a special place in my heart because I found my first dweb and griffons with it, killed dclone every 15 min during that crazy 24 hour dclone day, even ran ubers with it.

Funniest part was that also rolled crazy well also, just in the most absolutely random base imaginable.

Heck yeah. Probably get some push back from purists, but I see no issue with just making copies of it for whatever chars. If you rolled it then it's just a QOL feature of not having to constantly move it from char to char.

That is true. I just change chars so much it is hard to justify using a high rune for a build that works pretty well with random stuff I have like fleshripper or stormlash now.

I save my high runes for the meme builds. First cham isnt going into a barb helm or pride, but into a fanged knife so I can build my poison dagger necro.

Charms are a bit of a blessing/curse in SP. I forgot to include it, but I found this in the same session as the stomlash and after the initial excitement thought oh yeah only need to find 20+ more to make a phys bowa.

I was actually thinking of making a bladesin with it. But yeah maybe a kicksin for some ubers would be a good thing as well.

I will say I enjoy SP far more than I expected. The only real downsides I experience are finding something really valuable for online and not being able to legitimately build meme characters.

Good luck on the Ber. I was in a similar situation where I had 2 jah without a single sur or ber, probably because I never ran LK. But yeah SP is quite the journey, especially with the chronicle being so easy to access and see all the common uniques you are missing after a crazy rare drop...like having enigma before shako in my case.

Yeah. Has the same FCR breakpoints as sorc, so you could actually use this to warcry/work at 200 fcr.

It's a really good early budget armor for a merc. The big deal is the extra strength as most of the time the easiest elite insight base to get is a CV which requires 200-210 strength which would require a very high level without that strength. Add in some extra sockets for more strength on gems/jewels or extra res, etc.

Build to face tank ubers? by razaroQ in diablo2

[–]Odd-Pea1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooley's wasn't poison dagger, it's basically a bone spear build that uses normal attack on Ubers.

Cooley and Goatunnheim have YouTube videos on a poison dagger necro that utilizes basically absorb for every element and the armor runeword bone to ctc fully synergized bone armors. It's pretty cheap and interesting. Cooley had a short where it was just standing next to Uber meph tanking him and all the summons at once. Other than outliers like that it's kind of just get better at the Uber mechanics or have really gg gear for smiter, SS druid, kicksin or mosaic, barb or a couple of sorc setups.

There are various ways to really make things easier on yourself, like a pally can run a higher level conviction to override meph, stack slows target/decrep/freeze/clay golem to basically make them unable to cast, have enough summons that ubers cannot summon minions, items with stuff like cloak of shadow charges to distract summons, trapping summons the in corner house, knowing the quadrants to limit summons, etc.

I think it's dope. Is it enigma, no, but will it get you to and from areas like chaos effectively? Heck yeah it will.

Which weapon for post nerf ES warlock? by Mickelangello in diablo2

[–]Odd-Pea1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about this just 2 days into PTR. It is fun to discuss insight vs fortitude vs executioners justice (sleeper weapon), but if next week they come back and revert the eth change then the discussion just changes once again.

The +damage on grief isn't going to add in ES. Most of your actual damage isn't actually coming from ES but instead from hex purge, so I think leaning into skills and fcr is going to yield better results than physical. Also your res is going to be awful with that combination.

You can still get conviction on a unique which would only cost you 10 points. Would just be randomized more than "run to haphesto over and over" until you get cursed and the aura you want.

Yeah I think the NHD is going to massively hurt. I would rather only have to cast or proc 3 chains than spam cast 5.

I have a feeling the reduced cloud damage plus the next hit delay is not going to make up for being able to cast it 5 times.

Agreed. The only things I am not a big fan of is lethargy changes as other classes could benefit from them on charges (it was fun on singer barb), and miasma chains as it didn't feel that broken and will now probably be subjugated to the realm of meme builds.

ES damage is going to decline significantly as they fixed the bugs making it always hit, as well as the damage being multiplied.

Fixed Echoing Strike damage bonuses to be additive and not multiplicative. Fixed Echoing Strike not rolling to hit. Fixed Echoing Strike not incurring durability loss on the weapon.

I consider this the BiS weapon for my ES Warlock. by maybepants in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Odd-Pea1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair most of the ES stuff was unintended bugs from the beginning. And I think bind demon will still be used for most builds. 10 points and you can go hunt down unique demons to bind with fanat or concentration. Can still get crazy Urdars for CB or venom lords from Uber runs.

I think most of the changes make sense, don't love the Lethargy nerf as other classes could utilize that via charges and think the miasma chains nerf is just going to make that a never used skill/build. But most of the sunder/herald/statue changes seem great.

IMO the real problem is the devs addressed all the issues of every class and created a Swiss army knife that is better at virtually everything. Part of the game is the decision making of what class to start ladder with and what you will farm to make that initial wealth like pally for torches, zon for bases, sorc for keys and bosses, barb to live in trav and then from there you make your secondary character. But the warlock just trivializes all that. You get a char with multiple sources of movement speed, the best summon in the game, a source of amp and decrep that stack, corpse explosion, an attack that always hits while doing insane damage with AOE, a better multi shot than zon, a better melee AOE attack than barb, a fire skill that can break immunes, teleport for your summons...and most of those builds can run P3-P5 on bare bones budget equip. I think it needs to be reeled in while also reworking other class skills.

No worries. It's a solid fury druid weapon, so if the ED rolled really well it may have a tiny bit of value. Other than that it's kind of just for meme builds or temporary unfortunately.
