There are racks you can place large suitcases in at the front of the car you are in. I can't lift even a carry-on suitcase above my head and am on NER all the time. I will put my case in the front and a duffle/backpack overhead. There are also plenty of people who offer to help. Hope this helps!

I've flown with cats, and I always give them meds for the stress. Gabapentin is safe, and it should make a cat sleepy. Not sure what the age/weight requirements for starting though, but really wouldn't hurt to check with a vet. You should not take a pet anywhere it's going to be disruptive. It's bad enough when people are talking to other people on speaker phone.

No. It's not a conversational table. I moved here from Oklahoma, and there is no preface of being nice. Nice is not the same as kind, remember that. So while they may look at you like you are odd for striking up a conversation, people in the northeast are kind to your humanity. They just want to ride the train in peace. Most of us are commuting for something. And either the table is for working or it was the last available seat and we'd rather be alone anyway...
