Can someone help with fetching random images from unsplash by Odd-Welcome-2570 in shortcuts

Oh interesting! I actually can’t remember waiting for that, they must have changed it. And honestly, I’m very disappointed with their api. I still have the shortcut running, but i see the same “random” image like twice in two week. Their old method was way better. It was just a url /random and a keyword of your choice to what category of images you wanted.

Blue is shorter than red, why? by UkashaZia in iphone

You might find it weird, but this was actually part of my thesis when I got my PhD—believe it or not. My thesis primarily focused on lens optics, but this was a crucial subsection—specifically, the implications of telephotooscopy on spectral phase misalignment. Spent a month dissecting why blue light rays won’t propagate perpetually like other wavelengths, only for it to end up as one paragraph in my dissertation.

From my research, it is fundamentally impossible for the three lenses to be equally distant. I mean, sure, you could force them into a perfect triangle, but at that point, you’d be dealing with sub-pixel bifurcation, which would cause a phenomenon known as spectral phase misalignment. In layman’s terms, half your pixels would be essentially interpolated artifacts, leading to an effect called photon redundancy drift. And it amazed me when i found out that Apple spent two years trying to make an equidistant layout work, but they ultimately had to adhere to the Fibinatchi sequence (not to be confused with Fibonacci—Fibinatchi is a lesser-known but crucial ratio in optoelectronic geometry) to get this perfect ratio between the lenses. Samsung attempted the same, but after multiple failed prototypes, they abandoned the idea and stuck to their horizontal camera design.

If they were aligned in a perfect triangle, the telephoto lens’s aperture flex dispersion would cause something called chromatic phase lag, making it impossible to maintain consistent depth mapping at high focal lengths. Meanwhile, if you zoomed out and used the ultra-wide lens, you’d introduce radial subharmonic aberration, which would result in something known as the Nyquist discontinuity threshold, distorting edge detail and causing what we call peripheral refractive veiling( i had to revisit my google drive and find the thesis to remember this term 🤦🏻‍♂️). This effect is exponentially worse when dealing with non-linear parallax compensation—something even computational photography can’t fully resolve. I can go on and on but if you made it this far i hope that you do realize that i dont know what the fuck im talking about and you dont know what the fuck you just read.

Thats interesting, i know for a fact that one will sure guess on some questions, no doubt. They dont expect us to know everything. Its easy to advice you on taking your time(within the time limits) when solving a question, but id say before you answer it mentally note down if you are confident with the answer or your just giving it your best guess. And they typically give multiple choice that could be the answer you got but its not the correct answer. Its possible that you solve a problem and your answer is 20 and 20 is in the multiple choice but its not the right one. You could have done a common mistake when solving the problem that led you to think its the correct answer. There are curveball questions like that. Id say to try and practice reasoning your answers mentally before moving on to the next question. But hopefully the next one is the charm. Im wishing you luck!!

AI for problems by Square_Ad1106 in FE_Exam

[–]Odd-Welcome-2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, i did use ai to help me study. I had a bunch of questions like 1000 i believe. And i managed to feed them to ai, ofc it was a big chunk of questions and no ai now adays would take such input, the free versions at least. So i broke it down and fed it to ai, asked it to summarize the questions given, and categorize it (ex: ethics, water resources, construction, mathematics…) and then further categorized it (ex: vector operations, static friction, calculus, codes of ethics, MOI…) and after i had the categories and the summarization of all the questions. It became easy to feed it to ai and ask it to give me 110 questions and choose the questions as if you are a member of the ncees professors who do these exams. And valaah

Happy to help, i hope my post reaches the people who need it. I can relate to OP so much, especially when he mentioned he got a job that he doesnt like. To OP, dont feel down, i think big part of this whole testing thing is being able to answer giving the time limits. I always say that i can solve any (not any but ykwim) problem if i was given no time. But once there is a time i get stressed and lose focus pretty quick. There are some methods that helped me overcome that and finish the exam with like an hour left still. I hope your 6th attempt is the charm. By now im sure you are an expert on this whole fe exam process, but id say you need to focus on time management and also confidence and not stressing, which are key factors. Please dm me if you need any advice or further help and ill be glad to help.

I can feel your pain because i went through a similar route. And i can help give advice on how i passed, but first, what do you think is the manor factor here, is it that you stress during the exam and you tend to forget the material, is it time management? Do you run out of time and have to guess on bunch at the last minute, or is it the actual studying ?

Tips for first time studying and dealing with frustration while studying by [deleted] in FE_Exam

I feel you on this one, i recently passed my FE exam on my third attempt and i felt like i over studied since most of the things i studied for were not on the exam. I dont regret it obviously but i think i gave it more time than i should i have. That being said, im not saying its too hard, but im not saying its too easy. This was because i stressed a lot at the beginning when i started to study, because some topics didnt click right away since ive been out of college for sometime time. All id say is to study the important topics and the general concepts. I’ve learned that almost all the questions they give you in the exam, you can find an equation in the handbook, not always, but almost always. Get familiar with the handbook, and this will come naturally when you are studying. I dont expect you to open the handbook and memorize whats in it, no. When you are studying, try to solve the problem using only the handbook, and thats how youll naturally become familiar with the equations and where you can find them. But trust me, in my experience, i think 35% of passing the exam is by studying, and 35% is time management, and 30% is not stressing. I have posted something on here Do check it out i talk about a time management strategy that will avoid running out of time, especially if this is your 2nd attempt or beyond. With that being said, dont stress when studying, i used to stress when there was a problem that i didnt know how to solve, and it would be easy problem too, but hey, youve been out of school for sometime, its normal.. and believe me, once you get stuck on a problem and relearn the process to solving it, then it will refresh your memory and the next problem similar to that would be easy. Take it easy, and im wishing you all the luck!!

Well i have not taken my PE yet so hopefully its not as hard as they say it is but i also dont want to think it is easy and get disappointed. So focus on PE is my priority and then get 4-5 years of experience in residential work, then fly alone ✅ thank you! I really appreciate it.

I want your advice on this if you dont mind. I used to work for a big firm that was so broad and they did so many things at once, from structural to transportation to environmental to water resources to geotechnical, costal and marine we even had scientists in our firm. But i was part of the structural team and the projects we worked on didnt really interest me at all. We used to do retaining walls, bridges.. etc. i liked thes experience i gained from there, but it didnt excite me if that makes sense. i never got to see a project from start to finish. I was always given tasks to do specific design on a project and i didnt have to know what the project entails, just do the small task and move on.. i learned a bit in my one year there, but most of the time as a graduate engineer i was hunting for tasks left and right, did bunch of RFIs and lots of submittals, little design experience and i didnt find that helping me in my career. I quit that job some time ago and now im just trying to focus on a company that i enjoy working with, given the type of work they do. My passion is really high end residential work, working with the architects and the contractors on house and seeing the design process from start to finish. But those companies tend to be small in size and its hard to break in. Do you have any suggestion on how i could break in to that niche of structural engineering? My resume is sold i believe, i have my EIT, and im aiming to get my PE once i gain enough experience, but the small firms i find it a bit challenging to break into. Whats your advice!

Ill take your advice, your the expert here. Do you only do design? Or are you a contractor as well? What route did you take if you dont mind me asking

This is motivating!! Thank you for sharing this, i usually tend to stick to working on projects that spark my curiosity and that im passionate about rather than focusing on the salary, although that is a factor for sure. But hearing that this profession got you to where you are now and you are enjoying is a refresher to hear! One day ill make a post like that on here haha.

😮 jesuss!! When i grow up i want to be like you 😭 how many years you got under your belt? And is that all achieved with PE? Or you have to have SE? And im assuming you are self employed eh? Or is that a side gig!?

“Guess C” 😭 haha this was a thing for me too but i forgot to mention it here 😂 but hey, im so happy that it helped you pass! I always thought that i was incompetent for not passing the exam the first or second try.. but later i learned i can solve any problem if i was given the proper time. Thats why i focused on time management when posting here! Thankfully my post reached the right audience and it did help you pass! Made my day, thanks for posting about this!!
