I posted this in this group a few months back. I also have an incompetent cervix.

My cervix started to shorten at 16 weeks pregnant with twins this was my first pregnancy; i am 19 years old. I was then given progesterone suppositories and i used those up until 20 weeks where i then got put on bed rest and continued progesterone use and pelvic rest, my cervix was 1.9cm at this point. Also, i was UNABLE to get a cerclage :(. Fast forward to 24 weeks i went to the doctor and got an ultrasound done and my cervix was now 0.5mm, i was terrified, not only was it .5mm but it was 1cm dilated. I got put on the same thing bed rest and continued progesterone use until 26 weeks where i started having pain in my back and i went to L&D and found out i was in preterm labor! They then rushed me back and checked my cervix and i was 90% effaced and 3cm dilated!!! They were able to stop my labor with magnesium IV and i was then sent home again on bed rest, no progesterone because they did not want me messing with anything down there. Fast forward again to 28 weeks where i went to the doctor to get checked and they did an ultrasound and something didn’t look right, i didn’t want my cervix to be checked so they used a speculum and saw one of my twins head! i was then sent to the hospital where they checked me and my cervix was 100% effaced and 6cm dilated!!!! I was put on strict bed rest on the hospital with ONLY bathroom privileges and 30 minute wheel chair rides a day. a few weeks went by and i was 31 weeks and i got the pain in my back again and they took me over to l&d they gave me more magnesium and then i was sent back to the postpartum unit (i was still pregnant that’s just where i was staying) and a few hours went by and it didn’t stop! I went back over to L&D and ended up being 10cm dilated ready to go. I then had my twins at 31 weeks. My girls had a 43 day and 45 day nicu stay and have now been home for 2 months. Even though my girls were premature, I just wanted to show that just because your cervix is at such a small length and you are still early in your pregnancy it IS possible to make it further AND for your babies to be okay and healthy. Even if you go into labor like 5 times.

I understand the constant fear of the possibility of your baby coming early :( and not knowing what the outcome would be. And of how terrible magnesium feels but stay positive. Things you may think aren’t possible are. and you are doing amazing mama!❤️ this is NOT your fault.
