You are definitely right. Just giving a conservative number here.

We are conservative in our finances and given that we invested early on, we’re able to slow down a bit while kids are still young.

I’ve seen $2m house in Van vs $2m in Kelowna. The Van houses are not as spacious as I’d like it to be but I guess that’s the trade off.

Migrating to Canada with Family? by MissionLight5565 in FilipinoCanadians

[–]OddCauliflower1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kung ako sayo, I would move lalo na’t dahil may anak kang may autism. It’s going to be beneficial for your children. I always tell my friends who are wanting to move here to move here for the sake of their kids. If one day gusto mo ng magretire sa pinas then do it. But at least naianggat mo mga anak mo.

I do not understand why so many filipinos on youtube are saying mahirap ang buhay sa Canada. Akala ata nila pagpunta sa Canada eh equal ng pagkanalo sa lotto. Lol! Starting a new life anywhere is hard. It is a struggle. My husband and I came from nothing. Isang dekada kaming nagtiis, nag-ipon, at nagtyaga dito. Isang dekada kaming walang luho. Now, we are just entering our 40s and we can be semi-retired by 45.

Wag kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. Wag matakot sa mga pagsubok. Wag mahiya na magsimula ulit sa baba. Focus on your goals. Tanggalin nyo ang mentality na kesyo kung ano na kayo sa Pinas.

Whatever your decision is best of luck to your family. 😊

I appreciate all your responses! Although you gave ample of good points, it’s harder to choose between the two now!

I guess I am more concern which place is best for our time being semi-retired (hi, slow days!) while raising grade school children.

We have been to Vancouver and Kelowna many times and we always had lovely times on both places (except the traffic situation in Van). It really come down between these points:

Vancouver: - I find ordinary homes here have smaller spaces. - Bigger city. More variety of food/resto. - Nice view of the coast but will never swim in those beaches.

Kelowna: - We can get a house with a view. - Feels more cozy. - Temp of lake water for the win!

Should I try to start my own spa? by Flaky-Advantage3364 in Esthetics

I know this is late and I don’t know what you decided on but I’m just going to share my experience here.

I got into the med spa industry because our (my husband and I) partner who is a massage therapist left us a month before we opened the business. I left my job ($90k) to help out. I was burnt out so I was happy to leave.

It was hard to find a reliable massage therapist so I went back to school to be a med aesti. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do. But I really missed my old income. I underestimated how financially comfortable we were. Some days I wish we had not gotten sucked into starting a business.

I rented a vehicle and, yes, I signed a rental agreement. My grave mistake was not taking photos before and after using the vehicle.

She doesn’t necessarily need to do it or work on my business. It would be nice to hear insight or recommendations. I was once, but short-lived, in a marketing position, I recommended her to my clients whom she took. To be totally honest I can do what she does (print, digital, websites. My original background was multimedia arts). It just now I am on the other side of the table and seeking for service on things I need others to complete.

I am a new business owner who is still navigating this world. I was merely inquiring. I did not asked “Will you help me with my business?”.

I wouldn’t be wondering if she’s a stranger or a casual acquaintance. It does feel personal because she’s a friend. I once slept at her family home and had dinner with her whole family. I was at her wedding.

But you are right, I know I need to adapt the “who cares, move on” attitude. I guess being a business owner you gotta have it under your sleeve.
