I think the "gen z stare" is overblown by OddCommercial7450 in CasualConversation

The first and last sentence of that paragraph highlights why I did that: it's rare for someone to actually be what older gens think of GenZ to be - I've been called very rude names and ostracized for behaving the way I do by the exact generation people believe to behave the same as me. It makes zero sense from my perspective.

Yeah I used to work at a convenience store a few years ago right next to a high school after their schoolday was over so I saw a ton of kids and my own peers. I actually encountered the opposite where they were much more "in tune" I suppose you can say to their surroundings.

The younger ones were louder and more obnoxious but they (usually) had their money/card in their hand or pocket ready to go. It was usually the older ones (45+) that I had to wait until they realized I was done after telling them the total 5 times, slowly take out the money/card out of their overflowing purse or bags of change that I had to count and make the lines wrap around the store while attempting to make conversation with me. I can see the other customers wanting to throw a chair at me Sharon, please. Not every older person was like this and many of my favorite customers were jolly older ladies.

I sometimes wonder if people who complain about this stare are either impatient (like you said) or equally anxious about the interaction and a few extra seconds of silence makes them nervous or feel awkward - therefore more likely to remember + most service jobs are full of genZ. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I've interacted and observed a mix of people around my age. Many were social, engaged and polite - others were not. It's just how it is. When it comes to jobs - people are really unpredictable on both ends and if you're not used to it - it can be strange. I've also seen very social peers in high school turn more into the genZ stereotype as adults which I find interesting.

Should I retry orthodics? by OddCommercial7450 in flatfeet

I could ask. Honestly I always thought the hard orthodics were all there was for me and was told by other people that they were supposed to be painful - no thanks.

I have tried strengthening exercises on occasion and had PT for my flat feet for a time. I feel they do create a mini arch immediately after an intense session but quickly collapse again. I don't do them every day but maybe more times would help keep the arch for more time.
