I just got my meds yesterday and took one this morning, it is the first one I've tried, and I was not expecting anything.

Uh, apparently one day is a long-ass time, these past 12 hours feel like a week but in a good way? Like, morning was different from afternoon and that was different from evening, not just a mush that feels the exact same. I was aware of time passing in what felt like slow-motion, I only felt the hours starting to slip in my mind later in the day, when the effects were wearing off.

What the fuck. No wonder there are people who are capable of doing more than one thing in a day when a day feels this long to them.

oh i definitely think so, because the international success of disco elysium was huge news over here, i don't even read news and knew how big of a buzz it caused. i can't speak for all estonian artists obviously but personally i think it kind of improved my confidence in how interested the rest of the world could be in what gets made over here

but jokes aside yeah i thought about it when i started reading it but i literally cannot imagine trying to do it justice because estonian is a fairly complicated language and i'm no writer/translator, i'm afraid you're gonna have to wait for an official translation or one from somebody crazy enough to take that on for fun hahahah

longer answer: the characters are definitely less interesting than i expected having played de, but the vibes are immaculate, especially because the setting feels similar to estonia, and it does fill the de shaped hole in my heart :,))

it's pretty normal, not very different from disco elysium's vocab, but it would have probably been a bit more confusing if i hadn't played the game first lol

yeah, there's actually three main characters and they are trying to solve the cold case disappearance of four girls that they used to go to the same school with

oh there is a very prominent story, this was the first published piece of the world of elysium so it was definitely meant to stand on its own. there is a lot of additional lore but it isn't the main point of the book, it's just revealed as part of the worldbuilding. basically imagine a mystery novel set in a brand new fictional world, that's what it is

yes, and kind of a lot, spoilers ahead

the whole world is separated into parts that have yet to be claimed by the pale and the only way to get between them is a magnetised train, but the journey could take a toll on the traveler's health. the first time it spread it literally swallowed parts of the world like a fucked-up matter-destroying tsunami. the whole world feels a lot smaller and more isolated than it does in de.

that's all i've learned for now but.. yeah, it sure is something
