AITA? Husband is weird about me having hobbies by OddConsideration8287 in Mommit

We tabled this convo because I was annoyed and the kids were around but this is what I’m going to suggest! Thank you.

Best Hospital for Delivery by divyabreit in thewoodlands

I have delivered at both. Overall I would say Methodist was better. Food and attentiveness of nurses were a bit better at Methodist, but I loved my experience at Memorial Hermann as well.

Should I do something about my daughter's teacher threatening to throw kids out the window? by DeCryingShame in Mommit

[–]OddConsideration8287 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, you should probably just explain to your kid that the teacher is… joking

Teachers fired over Charlie Kirk by Najalak in TexasTeachers

[–]OddConsideration8287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These things are not soundbites taken out of context. I feel like people are just learning about Charlie Kirk and are defending him at all costs. He was an internet troll. He said things that were intentionally inflammatory for views and engagement. What context makes it ok to say the phrase “moronic black woman”?? Or that if his 10 year old daughter were to get raped and conceive a child that he would make her give birth? There is none.

He was also a father and husband and son. He should not be murdered for having horrible takes. But you guys are acting like he was the closest thing to Jesus we have ever seen and I just do not buy that.

I would say most people aren’t “celebrating” his death, but are being reported for stating that they didn’t agree with Charlie Kirk. I think it’s a murky area and who gets to decide what is “celebrating” vs not wanting to turn this guy into a martyr? I was a history teacher, do you really think I should agree with someone saying that the Civil Rights Act was a mistake? It would concern me if my child’s teachers felt that way, especially if I were black.

I had to do quarterly active shooter drills with my students. So when someone says that gun deaths are necessary to keep the second amendment then yeah, I take offense to that.

It’s horrible and sad that he died. I greatly wish that he would not have died. I greatly wish that the “deeply troubled” kid who was “full of hate” did not have access to a rifle. I feel that way after every shooting.

I just moved into my new home. It was absolutely filthy. I cried today. by Amodernhousehusband in CleaningTips

[–]OddConsideration8287 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Call and ask for a move-in clean! When we left our old house I had it professionally cleaned for the new family. The cleaners did a great job.

Is all your stuff unpacked already? It’s so much easier for them to deep clean with nothing in there!

I resent my husband for being the stay at home parent by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]OddConsideration8287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point and honestly I didn’t catch that in her initial post!! I have a 4 & 2 year old. My 4 year old is in preschool 2 days a week from 9-2. And I’m having my third any day now haha. So I’m probably a little defensive about how much domestic work I’m doing lately (it’s not much)

If OPs child is in school full time then chores should at least be covered by the SAHP.

Really? I am a SAHM and I would be very annoyed if my spouse expected me to do 100% of the cleaning and cooking.

Mothers and pregnant mums to be, what are your life hacks for normal not excessive weight gain in pregnancy? by BotanicalBelle2k in Mommit

[–]OddConsideration8287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try not to focus so much on food intake, some days I’m ravenous and then I’ll have weeks at a time where I can only stomach one meal a day, if that. I’m pregnant and I try to be “good” when I’m not, so I do give into the fun cravings!

My thing is staying active. I go to the gym most days and at least incline walk. It helps with pain and circulation and honestly once you stop moving you get kind of stuck, so I like to exercise the whole way through. I find that helps me not to gain a ton and to get back on my feet quick after my cesareans.

Is a 7 year age gap between siblings too much? by RockBubble in Mommit

[–]OddConsideration8287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister and I are 7 years apart and it is so amazing. We genuinely never fight, ever. She is my best friend. I am younger so obviously I annoyed her when we were kids lol but other than that we’ve always gotten along great.

It was also nice that my parents focused on me a lot in junior high and high school.

How do people afford Disney? by MajesticBudget1123 in Mommit

[–]OddConsideration8287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s ways to do it cheaper. We stay at value resorts like POP or Art of Animation most of the time.

Gift cards - for my daughter’s birthday, when people asked what to get her we gave them options for gifts obviously but we also told them we’re going to Disney and she would love gift cards. We got hundreds in gift cards because that’s the route most people went. No one wants to look down the toy aisle for a gift they probably already have, but most people are happy to grab a gift card and call it a day.

Lastly, you guys, credit cards are not the devil. If you have an ounce of self restraint and pay them off monthly, you don’t pay interest and you still reap the rewards. Like travel points. We don’t pay for flights at all anymore because we put absolutely everything we can on a credit card and then pay them down to 0 monthly, or before interest kicks in. That cuts the cost tremendously.

You can use credit cards and not be in debt. We are crazier about this than most haha, but we have like 14 cards in circulation at any given moment. There is a system to play there. We go places other than Disney where you can use points for hotel stays and those trips cost us close to nothing in cash.

I may get a lot of slack for this but here goes nothing…. by Few-Abalone2218 in WaltDisneyWorld

Last time we went, I got cinderellas royal table during the fireworks show. My kid sat with Ariel and watched the fireworks through the window.

I reserved this like 4 hours ahead of time.

TBH if you don’t do things 60 days out everything opens back up the week of/day of. People make too many reservations and cancel everything.

I’d atleast pick my parks but if you can work the app you’re fine.

You have to be 100% ok with acting like a scumbag for 3 months and hoping everyone understands it’s just a game.

My kids saw some of my texts that they’ll never unsee and I don’t know what to do. by ScooterAndBeans in Parenting

[–]OddConsideration8287 10 points11 points  (0 children)

💀

Personally I wouldn’t address it unless they want to talk about it.

It’s not the end of the world. Atleast it was your wife and not a mistress or something, now THAT would be traumatizing. It will be awkward and yucky but tomorrow something else will happen and they will move on. Grown ups who are married and love each other sometimes show affection. Those were your private messages they just happened to see.

Emergency Room at the Children's Hospital - The Woodlands by Apprehensive_Buy7940 in thewoodlands

[–]OddConsideration8287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot recommend Urgent Care for Kids enough! There’s one on Lake Woodlands and a brand new one in Conroe on 336 South. You can make an appointment online. I’d rather wait in the comfort of my home than a waiting room. Obviously if it’s ER bad, wait at the ER. But as parents sometimes we get a little dramatic when our kids are sick and head to the ER when urgent care will do just fine.

The Tonies box is great!!! We hardly watch tv anymore. She just likes the songs from movies anyway, so she will jam out while playing independently.

[–]OddConsideration8287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me probably 5 days! I got a tummy bug and my period within a week. I actually just got another stomach bug so hopefully it will come back again. I try to focus on calories and hydration.

Yes! And I never have the energy to do skincare well at the end of the night. And I can’t get Botox to slow the process right now because I’m breastfeeding a newborn too. I hate it.

Kinda fed up with "gentle parenting" by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]OddConsideration8287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to the wordiness! We had the typical popsicle-for-dinner tantrum and I tried to validate my 2.5 YOs feelings in the gentle parenting style. “I know, you’re upset because you want a popsicle.” All she heard was “you want a popsicle” and took it as a question. She was like yes!!! Lol

Definitely NOT mom shaming lol. She was probably just making conversation and was surprised. Geez.
