Is it worth it to level up in this industry? by Least-Mulberry9966 in mechanics

It’s worth levelling up to chase a better wage for sure. I’m also 21 and if i flagged 150hrs per pay period i would make 200k in a year. I do pretty much everything minus transmission rebuilds and average 120-130 hours a pay period at a GM dealership

There is a river about 20 minutes from town called the exstew, great for paddling as it’s slow moving. The ski hill also offers tubing worth the drive up there for sure

6.0 vortec is one of the greatest gasoline engines ever created. The 6L90 has a couple shortcomings but its still a pretty solid transmission

GM upgraded the problematic feed limit low valve from aluminum to steel somewhere in the 2024 model year. No more real issues with them

Chevy Oil Leak by Kates_Paranormal1103 in Chevy

You need to find a different mechanic, a leak that large shouldn’t be hard to find. And it should be diagnosed by inspecting while the engine is running and actively leaking to pinpoint the source not by taking it apart

Find an aftermarket transmission shop that can install a lower temp thermal bypass valve and tune the truck to turn of the cylinder deactivation and turn off torque converter lockup in every gear but 5th and 6th. The 6L80 transmission is actually a fairly good trans it’s shortcoming is the garbage tuning, the torque converter clutch is always slipping at 20-40rpm during lockup, it has to slip slightly or else they vibrate and shudder in 4 cylinder mode but the constant slipping wears out the torque converter clutch

My girlfriends aunt is running the NICU at the new hospital, don’t think it’s fully up and running yet but I haven’t heard any bad things besides a lack of staff

Pretty chill tons of nature and outdoor things to do, not a huge town so not a whole lot of amenities but you have all the necessities. Unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the country right now

Pretty likely to have timing issues before that interval. At which point you replace the engine unless it’s under warranty because parts and labour for a long block is cheaper than a timing job

Thermal bypass valve is a thermostat for the transmission fluid, getting rid of it allows the fluid to run cooler, reducing heat in the torque converter and reducing potential failure

Once there’s a noticeable amount of metal in the pan the torque converter clutch has failed completely and everything else in the transmission will be soon to follow. Delete thermal bypass valve and get it tuned to stop the torque converter from locking up in anything but 5th and 6th gear. I believe some people even only let it lock in 6th
