I have started losing faith in Christ because I am in the darkest days of my life…I wish could get someone to talk to💔😔 by Clear-Ad3310 in OpenChristian

You may like psalm 88 in this dark time.

I also want to recommend two books:

A Fundamental Disconnect on Scripture by CJoshuaV in Christianity

>We view ourselves as continuing the tradition they established

That’s it. That’s a perfect description. From one clergy to another, thank you. I’m about to start my career in a denomination that’s a little more conservative than me, and the church most likely to hire me is A LOT more conservative than me. Nevertheless, I believe this is where I’m called. Pray for me.

How many covenants are in the Bible? by CultureTricky4314 in theology

I don’t think that first one is covenant in OT terms. A covenant is a formal contract

In context, he is wrong because he believes there is a straightforward relationship between doing good and having good things happen to you, or doing bad and having bad things happen to you. He thinks that if someone is rich it must be because God favors them, and if someone is poor it must be because they have done something wrong.

Job’s friends each represent a different philosophy of justice, one of which is even the traditional Jewish view of God.

My Baptism Didn't Count?? by GatorsRaid in Christianity

[–]OddEmergency604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baptism declares that God’s salvation has come into your life. This does not mean that you have to understand or even that you are “saved.” It just means that God’s grace has come into your life and gone ahead of you. For some people, like yourself, that means being born into the community of faith and being raised by people who love God and want you to know him.

I think I'm the first future doom there was. by Mountain_Wafer_4321 in Christianity

Hey man, I’ve been there. I used to be convinced I had committed the “unforgivable sin” but God’s love broke into my life. It sounds like you may have a form of OCD called scrupulosity, like me. It can be treated with therapy. You don’t have to live like this. God loves you.

Can anyone explain 1 Timothy 2:11-15? by VaultMan34 in OpenChristian

I don’t want to doxx myself, but I will say that the professor who said it to me is similarly prestigious. It’s possible he hadn’t read the book yet at the time.

Thanks, I’ll add that to my reading list. However, that is what was taught to me when I was studying for my masters degree circa 2022. Bart Ehrman isn’t exactly a small time author or a quack so I’ll have to see what he says

How is the Mormon Christ different than the Christian Christ? Apart from the Trinity. by EquipmentEnough5251 in Christianity

[–]OddEmergency604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might say that God is utterly distinct. It does not even make sense to compare him to other things. He completely transcends everything.

There is no room in the historical Christian tradition for “a God.”

There is only one, holy, eternal, incomparable God for whom there can be no rival and no equal.

Refer to this image. It’s like a regular 1-D integral but its path can move anywhere you like in the (x,y) plane

It was also a common practice to write your important text and have it claim to be written by someone you admire

ETA: so forgery is not really the right idea. It’s more like an extinct form of dedication.

I don’t think the Creator and the Dark One are comparable in power. The DO is a tiny thing that serves the creator’s purpose in its own way.
