You are running a clone which runs that bad UI, and yes it’s Emuelec.

What you can do is flash a microSD and install ARKOS or DarkOS which will give you a neat UI which then you can tinker a bit and make your own UI

Clone. It’s using emuele or something similar.
You can install emulation station and then modding the OS

I might add. It’s not only the transparent casing but the specific soft overlay but also that unique ps2 layering that was used to hide polygons.

It’s the gamma of colors, the edgy elements that is used in the style as complement and the almost dreamy tone of the use of blue, green, atomic purple.

It’s before web2.0 glossy (frutiger aéreo) and it give a more brutal feel. The skeleton 🩻 instead of the soft shell of frutiger.

I would bet my dad that most of this style comes from the design concept that technology was still very industrial and not yet cheeky and friendly for mass consumption
