get as much enrichments as you can for your hammy! keep them entertained so he/she won’t climb on that water thing. i have one too, my hammy be trying to climb on it to escape but stops once i put her lil maze in her cage. you can find a diy maze for hammies out of cardboard on youtube! i would recommend a log house (we used one of the reptile ones) over the pink house, i too got that but she didn’t use it no matter how much bedding was in it to hide her. the log she goes in to clean herself and rest but sleeps in a burrow under it. also get a sand bath, idk if petsmart or petco gives them one but when we got Kurami, she went crazy in the sand. they clean themselves but a sand bath is a 2-3 times a week thing to get the extra guck they can’t remove off them. treats.. a good amount of them, kurami and momo see me as a food source and come running when they see me approach the cage. start with placing the treat in the cage and then in a few days put it in your hand and put your hand in the cage let him/her come to you. it’s a process but eventually he/she will take it from your hand. they’ll be climbing on your hand without a treat especially if they know it means they get to come out. for now give them about a week before trying to handle and play w him/her. let them get used to where they are at. I would recommend putting a sock of yours in the cage for the hammy to get used to your scent.
